Default Best movie title songs

Not all movies have title songs, but those that do. I consider a movie song to be a movie title song if it meets the following two criteria:

1. It was specifically made for the film.
2. The lyrics of the song contain the title of the movie at least once.

Here are my 10 favorite movie title songs:

"Singin' In The Rain" (1952)
This song is the perfect example of staying optimistic in an negative situation, a gloomy, rainy day.

"Funny Face" (1957)
I like how Dick Avery sees something in Jo Stockton that she doesn't see in herself. I like when he sings "You fill the air with smiles....for miles and miles and miles."

"It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" (1963)
This song certainly sounds mad and sets the mood for the film.

"The Sound of Music" (1965)
Anyone who's seen this movie and doesn't think the opening segment takes too long to get to this song does not appreciate it at all.

"High Anxiety" (1977)
It lets Mel Brooks be actor, director and singer all in one movie.

"Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" (1978)
It sounds like an army marching towards you, intent on destroying you.

"Ghostbusters" (1984)
There's something strange in the neighborhood, who you gonna call? We all know the answer because of this song.

"Licence to Kill" (1989)
There are so many James Bond films, but this song makes the perfect anthem for the whole series.

"Beauty and the Beast" (1991)
Of all the people who have sang this song over the years, Angela Lansbury is the best.

"Casper" (1995)
This upbeat, high-energy rendition by Little Richard is the perfect way to close the movie.

So those are my top 10 favorite movie title songs. What are yours? Please reply and let me know. Include a link to the audio or video if possible. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Songs with singing for movie opening Title credits, some really good ones. But yes, the 007 songs really stand out as that is their whole focus, to have a song to the opening credits. Some really good including the Duran Duran songs.

The animated GI Joe 1980s opening title song was good too. Lion King opening title song, Circle of Life, really good.

I'm not a fan of the Bond movies, but "A View to a Kill" is one of my favorite Duran Duran songs.

Duranie since 1982.

A great song, agreed. I always thought their Notorious song would make a good James Bond song too.

I hate to break it to you, but “Singin’ in the Rain” was not written for the movie “Singin’ in the Rain”. You can think of it as an “in joke” or just period-correct - the movie is a Greatest Hits compilation of Freed and Brown’s songs from the era the film is set in, the late 1920s.

As far as title songs, I guess Prince with his Purple Rain movie and title song Purple Rain could qualify. Classic 1980s song and his best album I'd say.
