Totally would never have expected that this would ever reach UHD. So could it be that Severin are the company with plans to release five Argento titles? If so, what could the other titles be?

Release of the year... Just hope they don't botch it.

The missing Argento on home video.

Day 1 even if it is botched.

Maybe Severin will get La Pretora and Dracula in the Provinces on UHD next. Where is The Devil Came From Akasava?

Severin announced that they're releasing copies of Argento's autobiography on Black Friday, and it's a part of two bundles. So it seems like there's going to be at least 1 or more Argento coming on BF besides The Five Days (wouldn't be much of bundle of just one Argento and a book).

Watch them spoil Four Flies - I still want that from Arrow.

So I’m assuming this is one of the five Argento UHDs that Alan Jones mentioned was coming?

I'm in on the basis of 70s Argento on UHD. Never seen this one either!

Same here! I was 100% certain it'd be one of Severin's Black Friday titles, but I thought UHD was too much to hope for.

The outstanding titles (unless we get into movies he wrote and/or produced but didn't direct, TV productions, etc.) in the US are:
  • The Card Player
  • Dark Glasses
  • Do You Like Hitchcock?
  • Dracula 3D
  • Four Flies on Grey Velvet
  • Giallo
  • Inferno
  • Mother of Tears
  • Opera
  • The Phantom of the Opera
  • Sleepless
  • The Stendhal Syndrome
  • Trauma

Scorpion released Opera, The Phantom of the Opera, Sleepless, and The Card Player recently enough that I'd be skeptical that Severin could gobble any of 'em up so quickly. But City of the Living Dead / Gates of Hell switched hands pretty swiftly, so who knows?

Trauma seems extremely unlikely, since it's not even been a year since Vinegar Syndrome put that out.

Blue Underground just re-issued The Stendhal Syndrome in January (although the 3 disc LE is out of print). Not impossible that Severin could've gotten this but doesn't seem like the strongest contender. Inferno...eh, who knows? But the BU disc seems to still be in-print.

I believe Mother of Tears is with Lionsgate. They just struck a deal with Kino Lorber, so could Severin have done the same? I'm skeptical, but it's not impossible.

Dracula 3D seems to still be with IFC Midnight/MPI. I want to say that this seems unlikely, but maybe it's just because I really don't ever want to subject myself to it again.

Shudder picked up Dark Glasses, and they usually use RLJE for home video releases, but maybe it's a different story this time around?

The big unknowns are Four Flies on Grey Velvet, Giallo, and Do You Like Hitchcock?

And yeah, if you expand beyond directorial feature efforts, there are a ton of possibilities, whether it's one of the Spaghetti westerns he wrote, a Door into Darkness collection, or whatever else.

Another possibility is that the five Argento titles are for a label outside of the US, and his interview for The Five Days was a co-production or licensed from another label by Severin. Or maybe he's working with a production company that hammered out a series of extras for multiple labels. No idea.

The Five Days is a maybe for me. Seems too far out of the box for an Argento film for me. I'm always willing to check out odd man out films so I may give this a blind buy at some point but it won't be a Black Friday purchase. 0-3 for me so far. Next.

Mother of Tears is no longer with The Weinstein Company / Lantern / Lionsgate. The rights lapsed and they’re back with Medusa.

Also, Alan Jones explicitly stated these five Argento films are U.S. releases.

Sometimes these outlier films are good films. Fulci did comedy, westerns, period pieces, sci fi, etc. Same with Bava. Argento does it and people are scared off. I haven't seen it but as it's a comedy I'd guess it'd be not too far off from the comedy style seen in Deep Red, the film that came after. Though that trailer has what I'dbcall typical Italian comedy of that era. Slapstick type you would see in Fulci's The Eroticist.

I screamed in a good way and then saw Severin and screamed in a bad way. Idk if you could pay me to take their work off their hands.

Sometimes work can be solid. I don't know how the BD of The New Gladiators looks so good. I wonder if Studio Canal did the disc for them.

Day 1.

I wonder if this counts as one of the 5 UHD's that were mentioned.

If so then the other 4 are without a doubt the Scorpion held titles (either through them or someone else, maybe Vinegar Syndrome or Severin).

You can rule out Dracula 3D was deconfirmed by Alan Jones. Also Four Flies as much as it saddens me. Been confirmed by several people (such as Fran Simeoni) to be unavailable due to legal disputes between Paramount and the Italian production company.

I think the remaining four are the Scorpion held titles UHD rights only. Maybe if all five are from one company and this announcement wasn't one of them, could be Vinegar Syndrome with those 4 + Trauma (shouldn't be a big problem that the previous release was only a year ish ago). If not my guess is Severin got the other 4.

I wonder if Arrow are also working on it for a UK release.
I'd love to see the Arte Originale edition of this.

I got a copy of this the other day. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet but it's a nice looking package. Will try to spin it this week.
