The Core will be released on 4K UHD on March 14th, directly from Paramount. Will post cover art, and extras when available.

Day 1 purchase for The Core on 4K UHD, even though I purchased Shout's blu-ray last year. Hoping Paramount will release Deep Impact on 4K UHD in 2023 for its 25th Anniversary.

Jeez...glad I held off on the Shout release which came out less than a year ago. This is a fun flick and I've always enjoyed it so I'll probably get the 4K at some point.

Out of all movies why this one? Paramount seems to decide UHD releases by throwing darts at a wall

Glad we didn't grab the Shout BD yet. Though, this release might make Shout's price drop substantially, so we might still opt for it considering Paramount's frequent practice of not including a standard BD with their 4K releases. 4k offers a bit better experience when both 2k and 4k are from the same source (more dramatically better when comparing new vs old masters), but BD is still FAR more useful to us (playable in every room, not just the HT), not to mention being more reliable.
Paramount has become THE most egregious producer for double-dipping. The only difference here is that this time they settled for their licensing fee rather than releasing a standard BD themselves. Maybe it was the BD's sells data that prompted greenlighting a 4k edition, or maybe it was planned all along. Regardless, it's almost become SOP of late for newly remastered Paramount BDs to get a 4k announcement a year later. |

There's even still a chance that since it's Paramount, between the encode, the hdr pass, and the dnr button, they might actually generate a new 4k uhd master that is less appealing than the standard Shout blu ray. You never know with these folks. Their 4k product is pretty schizophrenic in terms of results, randomly ranging from really sketchy to actually pretty stellar. Friday the 13th 4k vs Running Man 4k, anyone? How can those even be from the same company? I want this on 4k, but I'll likely wait for the initial reviews and caps this time around. Given that, I still think the 4k will more than likely spank the Shout blu....
