season 1 was filmed on 35 mm while season 2 on 16 mm

I loved this show when I was a kid. I have the first season on DVD but never got around to getting season two. I'd be down for a Blu-ray, especially if they made it a Complete Series with both seasons together.

Loved this show when I was a kid as well! I don't buy a lot of TV on blu, but would get this in a heartbeat. Have both seasons on DVD. Alan Spencer is a member of these boards and posts every now and then. We want Sledge on blu!

I believe Lakeshore owns this show (or did until recently when it got bought by Vine Alternative Investments). The German blu-ray (which is one of those "SD on blu-ray" releases) has the Lakeshore logo on the back cover which makes sense considering this show was made by New World Television. But I could be wrong because this article from Deadline says some rights including streaming are in dispute:

I have the two Anchor Bay season sets on DVD.

Is this show even available on film? As it's always looked rough being edited on tape, would look just as bad on Blu-ray.

I would imagine the film materials still exist. But again, we're talking about releasing a production shot on film, but edited on videotape. Even if you did, it'll be a pain to recreate all the video-generated material.

I exhume this thread because I'm currently rewatching the show from a German DVD collection with a rather bad video quality. Sledge is even misspelled in the title screen, missing the d.
Count me in for a Blu-ray release with better image quality.

I just finished watching the Seasons 1 and 2 sets from Anchor Bay. Man, they really knocked it outta the park with those sets. If the bluray didn't have every shred of what appears on those DVDs, I wouldn't be interested.

Says in the details - English Mono (Some Stereo).
The main audio track is Japanese, but English is secondary. Also separate Japanese and English commentary tracks.

The TV series is owned by Lakeshore so maybe one of the US boutique labels will license it someday. Season 1 was shot on 35mm and season 2 was shot on 16mm. The bad news is that it was finished on video.
