Watched "Young and Dangerous" with Andrew today. And he told me that he is working on the transfer for the blu-ray and that it is being re-mixed for 5.1 and should be released in 2014.

Very exciting news for the fans of this film.

This is fantastic news. Are we talking the whole saga or just the first movie?

Remixed for 5.1 sounds ominous, some of the other 5.1 remixes of HK movies have been awful with added new sound fx. Lets hope they include original mono, which i doubt.

I'd love to see a blu-ray release but I doubt it will ever materialize. Young And Dangerous is one of the many HK movies Warner Brothers bought about 15 years ago and did absolutely nothing with. Pedicab Driver is another one. Warner Brothers refuses to release them on DVD and won't sublicense them to boutique labels.

I actually think it may coincide with a marketing push for the release of his English language film "Revenge of the Green Dragon" where they can plaster all over the cover something about Martin Scorsese who is a producer on that film.

Just confirmed with Andrew that he supervised the scans late last year for the entire series and as of right now the plan is to release all 6 films

Any forward movement towards HD scans of the Warner-owned Golden Harvest films [list here] is a huge deal. So many titles I want from that list...

A bluray for Pedicab Driver would be awesome since it has crummy dvd releases in the past.

Pedicab Driver has never had an official DVD release, all of the copies available are pirates taken from laserdisc or VHS.

YOUNG AND DANGEROUS is screening April 12 at the Hong Kong Film Archive, along with the Milkyway Image classic TOO MANY WAYS TO BE NO. 1, from the same Warner Bros collection of "lost" HK films. The source for the presentation is given as DigiBeta for Y&D and 35mm for TOO MANY WAYS.

What a schizoid list of movies!

The list contains a bunch of great HK films that deserve to be seen ("Too Many Ways To Be No. 1," "Summer Snow," "Pedicab Driver," "A Terracotta Warrior"), but then a whole bunch of films that leave me scratching my head ("Girls Unbutton," "I'm Your Birthday Cake," "Days of Being Dumb").

I did see "Seven Warriors" is due for U.S. release by Well Go on April 22nd. That wasn't Golden Harvest, but it's about the closest we've had to one of the "lost" H.K. films popping up in years.

It seems to be all (or at least most) of what Golden Harvest produced or bought between when Star TV/Fortune Star bought their library and the end of 1997. For titles produced or acquired from 1998 on, Golden Harvest is presumably still the owner.

I say "bought" because there's some much older productions mixed in with the 90s films. Apparently Golden Harvest ended up with some of the Golden Sun Films library in the mid-90s. SHAOLIN EX-MONK (1978), MAFIA VS NINJA (1985), DEVIL KILLER (1980), SHAOLIN TEMPLE AGAINST LAMA (1980), and BRUCE LEE'S SECRET (1977) are all Golden Sun films found among the titles Warner Bros. got from Golden Harvest. Golden Sun is still around and claims to have a library of titles going back 30 years.

This is such awesome news, I've been hoping for the Y&D series to be released on blu-ray!! Definitely my favorite HK series of films, I've completely worn out my old dvd's...

Wow what a coincidence. Was talking about this with my friends and found this thread. Looking forward to hear some updates. My favourite HK movies.

Got some updated, albeit sad news for these films. Just spoke with Andrew the other day and he informed me that the label is not releasing these films due to the fact that the HK market is too small and that they can only make money in China.

And the Chinese censors are not very keen on these films. However, he was hoping that when his next film "Vegas to Macau 3" comes out in lunar new year 2016, and does tremendous business, he can negotiate the release of these films.
