There's very few things on this board more annoying than a bunch of posts quoting an image.
Is there a way for someone to code a feature into the board that automatically spoiler tags those quotes, makes them links instead of images, or something else along those lines? I believe this is already done for YouTube videos, so I'm hoping doing the same for images won't be hard. It would be very much appreciated. Thank you! If this is implemented then it should be an optional user setting.
But it doesn't actually waste bandwidth since that image is cached on your device. |

I was thinking about others (i.e. loading the same image multiple times...sometimes large), but OK. ![]() There are lots of users on this site, as another Feedback Forum thread pointed out. ![]() |

![]() Oh, and if the image hasn't been cached before, it's still loaded and uses bandwidth even if the image is spoilered. |

Many users loading an image at the same time (all over the world) is different than one person loading an image multiple times. Oops! Here's an image for you: ![]() -If I load that, yes indeed...it will be in my cache -If 1000 other fine folks load it, well...I guess it's ALL THE SAME, eh? |

![]() But I agree with you that, while it may not reduce the bandwidth to the client browser, it reduces the time and processing (both human & computer) to acknowledge it. ![]() EDIT: Also, it's courteous, and I think that's what DBH was ultimately getting at. ![]() |

There is a modification that can change any [img] tag that's quoted into just the URL, but I don't know if it's supported by the current site build, or if Iceman would be down for trying it.

I did mention the conversion of an image to a URL which is similar to what's done with YouTube embeds, I just haven't come across anything that suggests that you can automatically spoiler tag images only when quoted. Perhaps Iceman could work his coding magic and do that too though.

You try and switch yourself off from various types of posts containing large to very large images without using spoiler tags (one good example being when the same post containing a handful of images is quoted by more than one member, like they're being forgetful or in a trance, forgetting to put each image in spoiler tags). Sometimes that works.
You'd think that when these members see someone else or some people using spoiler tags, that they'd get the hint. Sadly not. |

When you report sock accounts on here, that's one of the problems which does get dealt with. Just as big a problem in my opinion is the posting of large to very large images without using spoiler tags, but there doesn't seem much point in reporting these posts because the problem is too widespread on the forum.

One thing I've been trying to do, besides reducing the size of images I post, is to put quotes around any large pics I put in my post. So if anyone was to quote my post, the pictures themselves would not be included. I hope others can do the same.
Here's an example of a post where I've done that: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...0#post21818080 |
