^ The film looks quite lovely (high contrast B&W photography = win!) and it should be a treat in HD. The script has its weak moments towards the latter half where some conventional adventure elements have been inserted but it's still well worth having for HPL fans.

Anyone gotten their copy yet? I ordered on February 27, and they told me it would ship in a couple of weeks. Still haven't received it.
I emailed them a month after my order was placed, and they said that the first two HD masters were not up to par, and they'd sent the third for replication. Now, more than two weeks later, still nothing. I'm beginning to worry. |

CALL OF CTHULHU wasn't made in HD or on film. It wouldn't really benefit at all, except for audio (unless that was recorded/mixed in a lossy format).
WHISPERER IN DARKNESS will only be available via the HP Lovecraft Historical Society site, and probably sold by them direct via Amazon. |

It's a good movie, though not pure Lovecraft, made by people who care what they are doing. I applaud their efforts. Saw this at a film festival last fall.

Shame that the discussion of this release, brief though it was, got lost in the crash.
Just to reiterate, I liked the film, and the BD is technically solid. Definitely recommended for Lovecraft fans...especially those who've seen/enjoyed HPLHS's Call of Cthulhu. |

I should be seeing my copy sometime in the middle of this month.
Beaver has a review up for this film. Strangely enough, Gary Tooze describes the audio for the feature and the commentary as LPCM 2.0 and even talks about the lossless audio quality in his review, while the BD product page on the HPLHS site says that the audio track is Dolby Digital 5.1, even Sean Branney of the HPLHS has repeatedly said that the audio on the bluray is DD 5.1 |
