I thought Andrea Arnold made a wonderful version back in 2011.

Fennell is a very flat filmmaker who's written efforts try a bit hard. It'll be interesting to see what she tries to do adapting something.

I like Arnold's version quite a bit, too. Not at all excited by yet another adaptation by an English filmmaker so soon, but maybe Fennell's approach will be different. It's a "let's wait and see" situation.

I honestly have no idea how to take this news. Like Wuthering Heights, had fun with Fennell’s films, but the whole thing feels like “square peg in circle hole”.

Catherine is like 19 in the novel. Margot Robbie is in her mid-30s.

I'm waiting to pass judgment, we don't know if this will be a modern interpretation or anything. I also like all involved

I'm tired of Jacob elordi hahaha. Would much rather have a younger cast. She's a good actress, but heathcliff is the only one that we need to see generationally.

Keep waiting for a definitive version of the novel but this isn't going to be it. Don't mind the Robbie casting though.

I think the best one is the Juliet Binoche. It's the only one that gets close to the level of melancholy madness the novel has.

Plus the Ryuichi Sakamoto score
