Jewel thieves planning a heist by making it look like a nuclear spill hit Beverly Hills. One of the most original ideas for a score I've ever seen.
And Max Headroom assists Wiseguy in saving the day. Quarterback skills are involved. This movie needs more love. |

Picked this one up during the recent Kino sale. It was a total blind buy and my first time watching a Ken Wahl action film.
While both Wahl and Matt Frewer are extremely likable in this film (loved Frewer as the principal in National Lampoon's Senior Trip) and Robert Davi is a good villain, as always, it's not hard to see why this has gone on forgotten except for late night cable TV addicts of 1993. The screenplay is clearly written from a Beverly Hills snob's POV. The working man wage cops taking ON the Beverly Hills crowd is great. Hell, I was rooting for the cops lol. I know they try to make the point that the cops are behaving just as greedily as the residents but I took it more like a sort of vengeance they were partaking in, albeit whilst aiding the wealthy and slimy Davi. Maybe it would've worked better as an anti-hero/Robin Hood-ish type film? Maybe I'm just biased against the gated homes crowd that likes to tell the rest of society how to live? Yeah, maybe, maybe. Dumb movie and pretty one-note, as the reviewer on this site remarked in the official write-up but it does move quickly, it's just fun enough and again the leads are extremely likable. Not displeased with my purchase but you've really gotta shut the brain off for this one. |

I thought every version of the movie is that way, I noticed some dubbing in both the vhs and kino Blu-ray releases i own. There is one scene where Matt Frewer says "This is famous Beverly Hills" when he clearly mouths the f word, and he even said "Big ****ing deal" undubbed before during the scene.
