Default Live-Action Miles Morales Film (Spider-Man Reboot)

Quote:
Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland recently suggested that Sony Pictures might one day look to introduce Miles Morales to replace Peter Parker as the new Spider-Man once he steps away from the role, and it sounds like the studio might already be planning to do just that.

Insider Daniel Richtman is reporting (via his Patreon) that Sony is working on a live-action Miles Morales movie. We're not sure if the project is actually in the early stages of development or simply an idea that's being kicked around, but it was probably only a matter of time before the studio made moves to capitalize on the character's popularity.

Miles made his comic book debut as the Ultimate version of Spider-Man before eventually swinging into the 616 universe. He was the focus of 2019's critically-acclaimed Into The Spider-Verse animated feature, as well as a recent PlayStation video game.

With the Multiverse about to open the door to a multitude of possibilities in No Way Home, there's never been a better time to bring Morales to the big screen in live-action form.

We'll have to treat this as a rumor for now, but we'll keep you guys posted if and when we hear more. In the meantime, be sure to share your Miles Morales casting picks with us in the comments section.

Lol, "once he steps away", more like after Sony decides to fire his ass like they did the last two actors that played the role. I'm definitely up for a live action Miles Morales movie though.

I think it would be the easiest transition for them to make from Peter Parker to Miles to avoid having to constantly reboot. With Holland, they got a solid aged character that could continue on for quite a while, but only as long as they pay him. With a Miles Morales, they may not do a crossover to the MCU, but basically make their own Spiderverse like the animated movie and spin off characters like Spider Gwen etc.

I mean, I think it’s all hype spin for the next film, but reports are Sony are fighting to keep him in the role as he’s looking towards other prospects he has on the table. But this is also after it’s reported he’s the one behind pitching bringing Spider-Man into the Venom and co Sony-verse. So that seems rather contradictory.

I think we are going to have 2 different Spider-Man, 1 Spider-Man for Disney Plus, and 1 Spider-Man for Sony's movies

Pretty sure the big surprise they're saving for No Way Home is that Miles Morales will appear in it, either the animated Spider-Verse version or a new live-action version that they can spinoff into its own franchise. Holland's also historically inept at keeping a lid on things, so him saying stuff publicly might actually be an indication of future plans.

You just had to say that. I may know who it is. All I will say is that No Way Home is leading into something much bigger.

I'm not hyped on Kang atm. But Doc Strange 2 might change that, I hope they don't butcher Raimi's vision. It's what makes the his trilogy so charming even as chessy or corny they are.

Right now Sony sees Tom Holland as a money machine. I know Sony is also releasing Uncharted this year so we'll see if Tom can bring in that "No Way Home" type of money for them. Time will tell soon.

Why can't there be a Miles Spider-Man film released alongside the ongoing Tom Holland Peter Parker Spider-Man series of films? Why does one have to wait for the other as they were suggesting "after" Tom Holland retires the role? Aren't they friends in the Spider-Verse animated films anyway?

I don't get why they have to wait. Heck, they already have Venom.

If Jaden Smith is chosen for Miles this will be the first Marvel movie in history I do not see.

Terrible actor, terrible person, this K&P sketch is dead on:

‘Spider-Man’ Producers Tease Live-Action Miles Morales Movie and Animated ‘Spider-Woman’ Film: ‘It’s All Happening’
Marc Malkin - May 31, 2023

As “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” finally hits theaters this weekend, the producers behind the trilogy have their attention set on the third installment, next year’s “Beyond the Spider-Verse.”

However, that’s not the only web-slinging project that’s on their minds.

Producer Amy Pascal says a Spider-Woman and live-action Miles Morales movie are in the works. “You’ll see all of it,” she told me Tuesday at the “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” premiere in Los Angeles. “It’s all happening.”

Producer Avi Arad teased that moviegoers will see a “Spider-Woman” movie “sooner than you expect.”

“I cannot tell you yet, but it’s coming,” he said.

Pascal also said a fourth “Spider-Man“ movie with Tom Holland and Zendaya is still in the works, but the writers strike has paused development. “Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are,” she said. “We’re in the process, but the writers strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”

Sony boss Tom Rothman was much more cagey about the future. He laughed, “If I told you, I’d have to kill you.”

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” sees the return of Shameik Moore as Miles Morales and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy.

It sure sounds like Steinfeld is up for a standalone “Spider-Woman” movie. “This is like my dream job, sign me up over and over again,” she said about doing voice work. “I got to be comfortable! And it’s a dream to be in a space that feels so comfortable but also creative and free and just exciting to be a part of.”

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Justin K. Thompson and Kemp Powers, is in theaters Friday, June. 2. The cast also includes Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Rachel Dratch, Shea Whigham, Leland “Metro Boomin” Wayne, Ziggy Marley, Ayo Edebiri and Danielle Perez.

I'd be down for a Miles movie. I hate the idea of these spin-off heroes replacing the main heroes though. It may have worked for Wally West back in the '80s, but nobody is pushing Peter Parker out of the spotlight. You might as well suggest Nightwing replace Batman.
