They couldn't have done this for release day of Across the Spider-verse?... I would have gladly purchased this over the standard edition.

Tempting but you know it's gonna be a bit pointless when you know they'll do a trilogy set when Beyond comes out.

Yeah, I agree.
1) Too expensive
2) Won't include the third film, which will probably get a trilogy steelbook bundle or something else down the road.
I'll pass on this, even if it does look nice.

Looks nice. Vinyl seems pretty random. I know vinyl is in again and all that, but not sure the people buying these films are the same buying or needing a 7" vinyl.

Oh they will, this is the 2/3rds complete suckers version for those people that didn't buy the steelbooks or standards of these two.

They'll happily let you triple dip when they do a trilogy sku don't worry

I’m tempted but it’s too expensive and there’s a third movie coming out.

It will sell. Never underestimate what Spider-Man fans will buy.

Sony knows what they’re doing. Spider-Man fans will buy everything they put out.

I’m still tempted even when logic tells me it’s too pricy and there’s another movie coming out.

This style of packaging can be easily modified to accommodate the third movie.

If Beyond would be as long or even longer than Across, it would be even longer than Zack Snyder's Justice League, which was four hours long.
It would either be horribly compressed and bitcrushed, or split into two discs, and the end credits for Across were pretty short by end credits standards.

When Beyond the Spider-Verse comes out on home video, you can watch Across and Beyond as a single film. Just treat the end credits for Across as a gorgeously animated intermission, as its credits are shorter than most end credits sequences, and there are no post-credit scenes.

Wouldn't be surprised if it includes a DV re-do if the first one, seems like a Sony thing to do. In which case some people will gladly double dip.

This is a great box set but pointless when the second one ended in a cliffhanger. I’ll get something similar, if they do it, once the last one comes out.

I guess if you through the first was mediocre and loved this one and now want to get both right away this would be the way to go. I'd be in that situation if I hadn't blind bought the 3D version of the first one (which includes a UHD) but if it wasn't in 3D I doubt I would have wanted to buy it after streaming a rental.
