Burg Talks Twisted Pictures' Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Source:ShockTillYouDrop.com
October 14, 2009

Last week, it was announced that Twisted Pictures ("Saw" films) were closing a deal to take over the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" franchise. ShockTillYouDrop.com got a chance to talk to producer Mark Burg today about the deal. Here's a clip from the interview:

"What we're going to do with it is bring it to 2010," says Burg. "Make it current day and come up with a new story that takes some of the basic plot points, if you will, and make it a current day movie. I don't want to make another Chainsaw in the '70s, that doesn't thrill me."
Hmm ... I'm so-so on this. A remake of a remake from 2003? Really?

The '03 version was set in the 70's? I don't remember that.

Regardless, I don't get that being the idea for them doing another one. What can that possibly bring to the franchise? Why not just drop Leatherface in the hood or put him in space while we are at it? Worked for Leprauchan, right? If we're going to go ridiculous, let's go ALL THE WAY.

Well, I'm surprised Michael Bay let it go. I figured he was getting all these properties to do a giant showdown film.

I read about this earlier. I'm not sure if it's really a reboot or just a present-day set sequel. I got the impression that this is a 35-years-later kind of a deal. If that's the case, they'd have to decide whether to follow the events of the original or the remake. Or I guess they could be ambiguous about that. Then again, Leatherface did lose an arm in the remake, which automatically makes a follow up problematic.

And if this does end up being a reboot, well, so what. This franchise has been rebooted 3 times already. It's kind of par for the course.

Regardless of what this ends up being continuity-wise, I'm still excited to see another Leatherface movie.

Well as a logical viewer I would assume Leatherface would be dead by modern times but then again does common sense matter to studios?

Just found this on /arrow.

http://www.joblo.com/arrow/index.php?id=18804

ShockTillYouDrop got a chance to sit down with Twisted Pictures honcho Mark Burg and pick his brain (literally?!) about the next chapter in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE saga, which Twisted just acquired the rights to last week (it will be in 3D, natch). Among other things, the producer spoke a little about what the plot entails. Read on!

We're coming up with the idea. It's a 'what if?' It's 35 years later, there's a relative going back. Why is he going back? I don't want to set it in a dusty town. How do we make it more urban but keep that feel. There will be some relatives, some new people. There's still the subtext of are they eating these people? The whole idea of cannibalism, we're bringing it back."

Sounds like the Leatherface we know and love will be no more. (Unless the dude's gonna be about 80 in the new flick.) I'm not sure how I feel about the whole "make it more urban" idea, but I guess we can only stare at the same dusty shacks so many times. As long as we're not talking about LEATHERFACE IN DA HOOD, I'll keep an open mind.

A remake from '03 version? This is getting stupid and ridiculous. Whats the difference?

Its time for a face palm. I don't know how to do one, so will someone just do one.

Thanks for heads orlando.
It almost hilarious how many people actually believe this is a true story...

I don't know how to do one either but I think the admins or whoever is in charge here should create a facepalm smiley to add to the list.

Clint Eastwood's son cast
Quote:
Clint’s spawn Scott Eastwood has landed the male lead in director John Luessenhop’s (Takers) horror pic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. Deadline reports that Eastwood will play Carl, and his deal includes an option for a possible trilogy (because it’s impossible to run this franchise into the ground, right?), so his character presumably avoids the whole “dying” part that normally follows a massacre.

The actor joins previously announced Alexandra Daddario (Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief), who is in discussions to take on the female lead, and Lost‘s Tania Raymonde who plays the female lead’s best friend. Shooting begins this week in Louisiana. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D opens October 5th, 2012.

I liked this one much better than the 2003 remake, TCM3 and New Generation.

The girls in this one are easily the sexiest of any Leatherface film.

I don't know about that personally. I love 70's chicks so the original was pretty sweet, especially Marilyn Burns early in the movie. Make that movie as oversexed as these later ones and I think people would think differently.

Jordana Brewster in the Beginning is a freaking goddess. The blonde chick is pretty nice too.

The two in Texas Chainsaw are pretty good, but their characters are beyond horrible and stupid, so it's a little harder to be attracted to that.

Now I see the Heather tit scene everyone mentioned and I was at the edge of my seat waiting for it to happen. Those tits looked like they looked fantastic lol. I was really hoping for it to go down.

I don't really consider it a "face turn" for Leatherface, it was just a feud between families. I did really enjoy this one more than the remake. It wasn't perfect but it was still an enjoyable view.

The only shitty thing was the Sheriff guy, his acting was ass.

I heard pretty bad things about this film. With that said................I loved it!!!! Yea we all know the timeline is very fishy but other than that I thought it was very good. I hated the fact that Trey Songz was in this but he didnt annoy me like I thought he would. What made the film good and standout is the obvious spin they put on it in the 3rd act. U will either hate that or love it and I loved it. It was different and very unexpected. The chicks were fine, plenty of gore and all the elements u need in a slasher film. I guess this is hit or miss for most but I liked it. Got Em!!

I disagree with everything here.

This movie is a disgrace to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, and an embarrassment for horror movies in general. Every trace of it should be abolished in every way possible, for all of eternity. It's so bad, I view it as a spoof of the other TCM films. Except that it's not funny.
