So, Death Stranding Director’s Cut surprise dropped onto the Xbox store this morning, for $19.99. It’s a game I had started a few times on PlayStation, but I’m going to give it a purchase and give it more time. Very excited to see where this leads, as more third party exclusives go away.

I thought it was weird that Death Stranding had a Windows Store release but the Director’s Cut did not.
Coincidentally a coworker was discussing whether or not Kojima’s Xbox experiment will go to PlayStation, seems likely to happen. Now I wonder if DS2 will also be multi platform… |

Also wonder if that ultra wide monitor support is Xbox and PC. |

Just can't get on with modern Kojima games. As much as people complained about the amount of cutscenes in the older MGS games, those games had a certain rhythm and flow that made them very compelling to play. Could blast through one of them in just a few sittings. Almost like reading a good book or watching a good TV season. The presentation of the stories alone were just so compelling.
I can appreciate his attempt at trying to make more compelling gameplay, but it felt to me he threw the baby out with the bathwater in regards to the story. It just loses too much when the amount of cutscenes are halved and the story is told primarily through audio diaries. Not a fan. |

But that's my point. Is there anything about the original version that would want to make one access it instead of the new version?
EDIT: I'm not trying to be snarky BTW. I'm not sure what the differences between the two versions are. I've only played the Director's Cut version. |

Anyway, I have a tendency to like the original versions of things and it is a rare occasion when a director's cut (or remaster or remake) is better in my eyes. |

![]() I’m sure this won’t silence the devoted, but Kojima demonstrated Xbox can play the best looking PS5 games. Decima runs great on Xbox, gameplay is indistinguishable from PS5/PS5 Pro with all three running at 4K/60; even Series S is a solid 1080p/60. At this point saying Horizon: ZD or FW can’t run on Xbox is an insult to the developer, not Xbox. Last edited by heyadol; 11-11-2024 at 12:58 AM. |
