Default Best place for my subwoofer based on my setup?

Here is a pic of my setup, ignore the CD shelf speaker stands, that will soon be changed. Anyways, is that the best place to put my subwoofer, or should it be put somewhere else?

If it's good, is the angle good as well, or should that be changed too? Like similar to what I had it like before (as far as angle):

subs should be placed near a corner for best effect, the corner reinforces the sound, when it is the open as you have it tends to cancel itself out. go to hsuresearch.com/faq.html and read what they have to say

Since you have a carpeted floor, wherever you place the sub, use spikes. See this thread: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ighlight=spike

Yeah, I agree. If you could move your TV to the left and then place the sub to the right in the corner, you'd notice a lot more punch as the sub would interact with the wall a lot more.

I just moved it to the very right corner of the room, and it sounds MUCH better!

Thanks for the help guys. I'll also look into getting some of these spikes. Here is the subwoofer I have:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1138083504371

Which type and size spikes would be best for it? And once I get them, how do I install them? Do I just nail them in?

Good pics! If this was my set-up, the sub would be in the right hand corner. Preferably on the right side of your speaker. Keeping it a foot or two away from the wall so as to utilize the two walls to help throw more bass into your veiwing enviornment. As seen on in the pics, on the left side, it will loose more sound out to the left open space.

No nails! Some are made to screw into existing threaded inserts, if the sub has them, and some use very strong double-back tape stuff. I used the latter on my BR Sunfire sub and they made a huge difference in tightening the bass.

Talk to the oregondv folks. They'll help you with selection.

As everyone has already stated any corner is best for subwoofer placements. Also you don't have to worry about placing it at an angle to face your sitting position as the low frequency output of subwoofers are omnidirectional. That's why it's hard to determine the location of a sub from the sound.

If you have carpet and carpet pad on top of concrete, will spikes still help?

It almost seems like these two posts are contradicting each other.

So, I put it in the corner, and angled it towards the middle. Now that won't affect anything, but I've pushed as far back as possible, does it need to be distanced from the wall a little bit?

Yes. Keep it a foot or a little more from the wall if there is a rear port on the sub. this will push more base out to the veiwing area.

let me clarify, putting it in the corner reinforces the sound.. however you will notice no matter if it's angled or not.. the sound will stay the same.. LF waves are literally larger than the room and not directional like mid range or high freq waves.

Mine actually has a side port. I'll get a picture of where it's currently at real quick.

Yes, though a wooden sub-floor would afford the best result. Spikes will help hold the speaker stationary, so that the energy from the cones isn't being wasted by causing the enclosure, itself, to move.

If the bottom line issue is that you feel there is not enough bass comming out of it, let us know. Try cranking the volume (on the sub) all the way. What BDs do you have to test the bass with?

You port will face that desk on the right side. Should help to kick more sound to you.

Nice. Try experimenting now. Use the same (bass) movie segments. Play it once and adjust the sub position. You have it against the wall. Try it out. Crank the bass if needed. Then play the same movie (bass) segment with the sub a foot out from the wall. sit and listen to that. See how you like it.

Sound is a unique and personal choice.

No, it is much better now. I haven't tested it with a BD yet, but I have tested it with some music. I'll be looking into buying some spikes for it as well.
