Default Hi New Here.

Hi Just wanted to say I'm new to your forum ..found this place by luck and been reading alot ,and just joined..This site has alot of info..I just finally broke down and bought a Blu-ray Player . The Sony BDP S300 ,I am a Marantz fan & i was waiting to see if they were going to release a player this year but did'nt find any info on it so I went ahead and bought the Sony because of the fantastic deal I got on it , just to get in the game. Then I found this site and all the info on the new Marantz BDP 8002 Player for $2,100.00 .Nice one.But I'll wait and enjoy the Sony for awhile till Marantz brings out a few more choice's..LOL Again Hi and thanks for all the great news & info here..

welcome to the forum!

I thought I read somewhere that it may be April before the Marantz Blu ray players come out.

Hi & thanks for the welcomes everyone..

Also doctorD -- I was'nt sure when it will be out ,,But the cost is to high for me right now..The old me would of jumped on it in a heartbeat..My Old system was all Marantz & klipsch I Had over $20,000.00 in it. Thats back when Philips own'ed Marantz .Which I worked for Philips and got great deals on the EQ. But Sold it all about seven years ago when we built a new house..So last year I put together a new system Just a little one , But with a nice Punch ..I have to say I'm very pleased with the new one.

Marantz SR7002 THX® Select2 ($1,399)

...also, word of advice. The Sony S300 is only capable of Uncompressed PCM (no Dolby TrueHD or Dts-HD Master) ...you may consider selling it, and upgrading to a bluray player that will provide the Lossless codecs. (just my .02 cents)

...ah never mind, im retarded...I was thinking you were talking about the Marantz SR8002 Receiver.

now I see about the Marantz BD8002 Player.

I hate when companies use the same model numbers for different products in their names.

I read the s300 owners thread, and they say it doesnt.

Not even on the sony firmware update page does it mention anything about added Dolby TrueHD support?

Yeah, it is kind of up in the air. I just saw the guy that said it didn't work. Paid said it came when the S1 got its update.

*Adds Dolby® TrueHD and Dolby® Digital Plus Audio decoding functionality.
