USA Clown in a Cornfield (2025) 4K UHD (Shudder Films)

Shudder Films will be releasing the slasher film Clown in a Cornfield (2025) on 4K on September 9th. The film is directed by Eli Craig, who is best known for Tucker & Dale vs Evil (2010). It will come in a Steelbook, which will be an Amazon exclusive till the end of the year (according to Diabolik DVD).

Quote:
Looking for a fresh start, Quinn and her father move to the quiet town of Kettle Springs. They soon learn the fractured community has fallen on hard times after losing a treasured factory to a fire. As the locals bicker amongst themselves and tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning clown emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time.

Watching this with an audience was surprisingly fun, even if it isn’t the greatest horror comedy of all time.

Day one 4K release for this would be a welcome surprise. Seems like an ideal candidate for the incredibly irritating staggered release strategy.

Not sure how much it will benefit from the format (I saw it at a technically mediocre theater so difficult to judge), but the film itself is a good time if you’re a fan of less gritty slashers. Better than Hell of a Summer, not quite as good as Heart Eyes.

I'd probably want to rent this first before blind buying this, but I am interested in the movie.

I think the horror genre needs a break from clowns. Give it a rest already. Explore other avenues.

Don't give them ideas.

And Clowns will always be used in horror as long as people are afraid of them.

Watched today and enjoyed it, typical slasher style movie but it was fun, with some nice gore and a few actual funny moments. I'd be down for sequels if they decide to adapt the second and third books.

I rented the 4K digital version yesterday. No HDR/DV, 5.1 audio. Considering this is a RLJ release, I assume the technical specs on the physical release will be much the same, but I thought even the digital stream looked and sounded quite nice.

I hope this gets a solid set of special features. The movie stuck fairly close to the plot line of the book, so I wonder if they actually filmed and cut a number of scenes and expanded characters or not.

This reminds me of an episode of "Tales From The Crypt" with the way it looks.

I really loved the novel trilogy that this is based on. I didn't get a chance to see this in theatres, planning on a blind buy for this! Does Shudder typically do Canadian releases?

The author of the book series, Adam Cesare, likely hinted at a future Arrow UK release:

So, it looks like Cesare must have been referring to Diabolik exclusively selling signed copies of the Blu-ray:

Blu-ray on Amazon is showing $1.40 promo credit, bringing the price down to just $12.92.

Can't decide whether to go for the $39.99 4K or settle for a $13 blu-ray?

Note, I could only see the promo at checkout, it wasn't on the item page.
