Great news.

I don't care much for Knuckles, but Shadow is for sure Sonic 3's movie enemy character. I'll be rooting for Shadow and yeah, I know Sonic will defeat Shadow 'cause that's how it goes. :-/

The TV show is a Knuckles spinoff, not a Sonic series... if I'm understanding correctly lol

Yeah, the logo they used at the Paramount event said Sonic: The Series but it does seem to be a Knuckles-centered show. I merely titled the thread based on what was said at the event. Fixed the thread title now, though.

No offense, but this sounds like something WB would do (seriously). Why in the blue f*ck (no pun intended) is this called Sonic: the Series when it's based around Knuckles? That's like calling the Colin Ferrell Penguin spin-off series The Batman: the Series, it makes no sense. It might not even feature Sonic, or at best, he's a side character. I get that it's a Sonic movie tie-in series, but they should've simply called it Knuckles the Echidna or Knuckles Chaotix if they plan to feature them.

There are fans who really like Metal Sonic, huh?

I couldn't care less about Amy, tbh.

I’m not that big of a fan of Amy rose either but metal sonic is pretty cool I think they should adapt sonic cd and then do sonic adventure 1 and 2 next or adapted sonic mania after sonic cd yeah you would have to get rid of the time travel stuff but yeah.

So any update on this? Next year is 2023 but we've had nothing on it since it's announcement.

They haven't even announced a director for Sonic 3 too (Fowler is apparently next doing a Pink Panther film for MGM.. is that in limbo?)

That Pink Panther movie was announced way back in 2020. Considering he did Sonic 2 during that announcement, I doubt it's going anywhere.

Fowler was in a photo that the writers shared of all three of them in a storyboard meeting for 3, so it does seem like he is back directing. The MGM Pink Panther movie seems to have stalled, haven't heard anything about it since it was announced.

If this show is still moving forward, the next we'll likely hear about it is at Paramount's next investor presentation, which should be sometime in the first half of 2023.

I’m hoping we get Rouge, she’d make perfect sense given her history with both Knuckles and Shadow. She could easily bridge the gap between the second and third movie so they wouldn’t have to introduce her right then and there and clutter her screentime with Shadow’s and the rest of the cast. Shadow alone will command a lot of screentime that they’d have to split between the big 3 as well as Tom and Maddie and all the others.

Hmm, I wonder if that’s who Ellie Taylor will be playing/voicing?

‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Spinoff Series ‘Knuckles’ at Paramount+ Adds Five to Cast, Including Christopher Lloyd and Cary Elwes

Quote:
The live-action “Knuckles” series at Paramount+ has added five new cast members.

Cary Elwes (“The Princess Bride,” “Robin Hood: Men in Tights”), Stockard Channing (“Grease,” “The West Wing”), Christopher Lloyd (“Back to the Future,” “The Addams Family”), Paul Scheer (“Black Monday,” “Veep”), and Rob Huebel (“Children’s Hospital,” “Bob’s Burgers”) have all joined the series. Details on their characters are being kept under wraps.

As previously announced, Idris Elba will once again voice the character Knuckles as he did in the film “Sonic the Hedgehog 2.” Other cast members include Adam Pally, reprising the role of Wade Whipple, as well as Edi Patterson, Julian Barratt, Scott Mescudi, and Ellie Taylor. Guest stars include Rory McCann and Tika Sumpter, with the latter reprising her role as Maddie.

The show was originally announced in February 2022. It is set in the time between “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” and the third film in the franchise, which is slated to debut in theaters on December 20, 2024. In the series, Knuckles “agrees to train Wade as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior,” per the official logline.

John Whittington, who worked on the screenplay for “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” wrote the pilot for “Knuckles” and serves as head writer and executive producer on the series. Brian Schacter and James Madejski are also writers.

Jeff Fowler, who directed both “Sonic the Hedgehog” films, will direct the pilot episode and executive produce the series. Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher of Original Film and Toru Nakahara — all members of the films’ creative team — serve as executive producers, as does Elba. Ged Wright, Brandon Trost, Jorma Taccone, and Carol Banker are also directing episodes. Paramount Pictures and Sega of America produce.
