Default External Drive To Check For Disc Errors

Can anyone recommend an external drive and software that will work for Mac that I can use to check my 4K discs for errors? I don’t want to rip or anything like that I would just like to be able to check my discs for errors, Particularly my Game of Thrones 4K set and the Seinfeld 4K set. Thanks

BDInfo and/or VSO Inspector (not sure if that's on Mac).

As for a drive you'd need one which has the right firmware, some of them get updated and need to be flashed to read UHD discs. If you look at the Amazon reviews you should find ones suitable (then search that model number).

It's far more time consuming but backing up your discs is one of the best ways to check for errors, as the software probably not read damaged/faulty discs.

The topic is borderline prohibited on this website. Pioneer drives are best at reading but this will underestimate which discs your player might have problems with. LG will exaggerate. LG drives are easier to find but require a reflash of the firmware. Pioneer drives require old firmware and this is getting increasingly hard to find (though some sell on the other websites for inflated prices).

Not really at this point. People talk about this stuff pretty openly these days, even explicitly stating the tools you can use for such things.

The last thread that got on a topic along these lines was deleted by the mods. This topic is more appropriate for the PC forum that has a sticky that states a bold prohibition.
