Default Resident Evil 2 (2019)

YESSSSS!!!! I'm so excited right now! Just read it on my lunch break! I hope it's classic angles!

“You’ve been telling us for years that you want Resident Evil 2 to be remade,” said Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabyashi, “and we haven’t been able to make it happen...until now.”

Maybe Capcom took a cue from Square Enix and the response to remaking Final Fantasy VII?

Capcom has been teasing a Resident Evil 2 remake for a few weeks now on their Facebook page, alleging the game was being pitched internally, and fans had to wait to find out how Capcom executives felt about it. (This always seemed like a bunch of bullshit to me—were they really going to say “hey, guys, it’s not happening”? Video game advertising in 2015 is weird.)

“It will be some time before we can bring you an update on this project,” said Hirabyashi.

That’s because this is different than what Capcom is doing with Resident Evil 0, which is an “HD remaster,” not a full-on remake. With this project, they’re going back to the drawing board.

Resident Evil 2 was (and is!) an incredible game, and absolutely deserves a new look. The original Resident Evil remake is the standard bearer for remakes, though, and Shinji Mikami is no longer at Capcom. The development team has their work cut out for them, but I’m psyched!

probably my favorite horror game of all time. Only thing is, I hope it is a re-imagined game instead of just some new graphics.

Wonderful. I just hope we get something in the same vein as the previous REmake as opposed to something like 4/5/6. Resident Evil 2 is one of my favourite games and I think the franchise suffered when it emphasised over-the-shoulder combat over genuine scares and atmosphere.

Default Resident Evil 2 PS4,what is taking so long?

We got all the old resident evil games remastered on PS4,but not this one,and also 3 if I'm not mistaken.Any chance that it might drop as a digital download, out of the blue at the end of the month to tie in with 7?

It's getting a full-on remake, although they've not announced a release date yet. I imagine it'll be a while. We know very little about it and there's been nothing in the way of screenshots or trailers.

No. As dally said it's a full on remake (see FF7 which won't even have the first episode out this year). RE 4-6 were already out on PC so the ports were easy.

I think they want to get RE VII out of the way, concentrate on that and without any distractions.

There has been internet rumour of an RE2 Remake demo coming with RE VII, but I think that's 99% unlikely given the above. Like everyone else, I can't wait to see those first screenshots and trailer...hoping for something in the style of RE Remake!

Maybe they'll show us something at E3? They've been SUPER quiet about it.

Maybe a behind closed doors but I sadly don't think this would be front and center at their booth.

Just because Revelations has a modern gameplay style doesn't mean going with traditional gameplay "backwards". As I mentioned in another thread, RE2 is a very tight game, the devs knew what they were doing. If you change too much, like adding an over the shoulder view, you start to affect the balance. The vast majority of the enemies in RE2 are slow zombies. Being able to pick them off with headshots half a room away would break the difficulty. One example would be first person aiming in MGS Twin Snakes.

From a diehard RE2 fanboy, I'd rather they keep it as faithful as possible! The only thing I really want updated are purdy graphics.

I agree 100% with this whole statement. I am also hoping they can keep the original music from the original PS release... but I highly doubt it... The music of the original RE2 was perfect from walking into the police station for the first time or simply being in the Save Room

Why wouldn't they be able to keep it? It's not licensed.

I am not saying that they wouldn't be able to keep it, I am saying I highly doubt they will keep the music to its exact root. When they made the RE1 remake/remaster (Which is a masterpiece and I am hoping they follow this path for RE2) they did not keep the exact music to the root, they keep it but slightly changed the tones/music a bit... Which I am fine with, but I would prefer if they keep it the exact same since RE2 is my favorite of all... But like I said I doubt they will keep it the same... this is just my opinion.

On side note: I hope they keep the Fixed camera angles as the original like how they did the RE1 remake/remaster... Or at least give you the chose to choose which style you want so that everyone is happy... that being said I have a gut feeling they are going over the Shoulder... don't know why... just do...

I think they should offer different "action" style RE5 style gameplay and cameras but keep a traditional camera and whatnot like RE HD has. So it offers the best of both worlds even if it "breaks" the game for some.

I'd be gutted if they did away with the fixed camera angles. For me it's just synonymous with classic Resident Evil.
