Anne Hathaway (Eileen) has signed on to star in a mysterious new film that David Robert Mitchell (It Follows, Under the Silver Lake) will direct for Warner Bros. Pictures, Bad Robot and Jackson Pictures.

While the pic is billed as a “thrill-ride” to be shot in IMAX, which will head into production this fall, other details are scarce at present.

Mitchell penned the original script and will produce alongside J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella for Bad Robot, and Jackson Pictures’ Matt Jackson. Jake Weiner and Chris Bender of Good Fear Content will serve as exec producers. [+]

I'm excited. Just today I was wondering where the hell DRM is and what he's up to.

It Follows is a modern horror classic and Under the Silver Lake is an underrated film. (It took me a second watch to love the latter).
I hope his script Heroes and Villains is still a thing.

Very intriguing, I never want to hear anyone say the likes of career ending bomb when you can go from Under the Silver Lake to IMAX thrill-ride movie with a major studio.

I like David R. Mitchell’s films so I’m pretty buzzing with this news, although I imagine this’ll be quite a streamlined effort compared to his other efforts. Hopefully it connects with audiences.

It Follows was fantastic and Under the Silver Lake was a good watch too. I need to check it out again. I really enjoyed the unique way the story unfolded.

I highly anticipate his next film. A dinosaur movie set in the ‘80s sounds great. But whatever it ends up being, I’m excited.

I feel like there are very few single films which are career ending bombs, as long as the director conducted themselves professionally during its making, and had made a successful film before. We’ve seen films which get panned and lose $100 million+ with the director able to find more work right away.

Great news. It’s been way too long since David Robert Mitchell directed a film. I was worried he was going to be stuck in directors jail after the reception of Under the Silver Lake. I’m not a fan of Anne Hathaway, so I’m a bit bummed out that she's apparently the lead, but I’m going to hope for the best.

He's apparently a busy guy. He's got this film, an It Follows sequel, a film called Evergreen Pines And The Fading Summer that could stare Jim Carey, and there's his original superhero film that could still possibly happen.

I'll still watch it because I've enjoyed his past work but... yeah, this isn't something I'm super excited to see him tackle and tbh neither is a sequel to It Follows.
But I get it, Under the Silver Lake wasn't all that successful, so if projects like this help him go back to making creative stuff like Lake, I'll support him.
