Default Solomon Kane (2009)

I noticed that "Solomon Kane" is FINALLY getting a U.S. release (Aug. 24 on iTunes, Sept. 28 in theaters).

Does anyone have any info on a U.S. Blu-ray release?

I just got the UK blu-ray for 5 pounds. I think it ended up being $13 something with shipping.
I'll pass on the Weinstein's release. They'll probably cut the film, give it a new score and create a new happy ending
... and i doubt they'll have all the extras that are on the UK release.

Why such a delayed US release?

Strange that it's also on iTunes before a theatrical release.

I've never known that to happen on iTunes UK before!
Does this sort of release strategy happen a lot in the US?

I thought the UK release was region locked

Nice! I've got the UK release and love the film. Glad to see it finally get some exposure over here. Even conversed with the director through his webpage a while back - he seemed to be a decent guy and took the time to answer all my questions. Will go and see this in the theater and pick up the US release as well.

The Dutch version is region free. Audio and Video is top notch plus the movie is pretty good. I have had this movie roughly a year on blu and have enjoyed it.

I've been curious about this one since I first heard of it a couple years ago. Though the trailer didn't wow me, so I wasn't sure. Well, I just watched the first ten minutes for free on Amazon Instant Video - and count me intrigued! I really liked what I saw and it seems right down my alley. I'm not going to order the whole movie on the computer though; it definitely seems like one I'm going to want to watch in a theater, so I'll just wait until next month.

As I mentioned above I really liked this film. I've been a fan of James Purefoy since his work in Rome and he does well in the lead as Kane. Liked the late Pete Postlethwaite in this as well.

I actually enjoyed Solomon Kane in spite of its faults. As often happens with a less than familiar property, the filmmakers opted to lay out a completely unnecessary origin story for the character rather than base the film on an actual Robert E. Howard story. Had they dived right into Howard material, I think they might delivered a better film.

snagged this, Mesrine pt 1&2 and Vahalla Rising from a uk member about 6months ago for $20 all together. Haven't got to watch any yet, but all look very promising. I love mindless violence and action

Anyone else think a Robert Eggers Solomon Kane film would go hard?

He'd be perfect, though I'd assume they'd omit Kane's African friend like the previous film did and keep the action in puritanical England.
