In the eight-episode The Institute, When 12-year-old genius Luke Ellis is kidnapped, he awakens at The Institute, a facility full of children who all got there the same way he did, and who are all possessed of unusual abilities.

Just finished watching the first two episodes. Anyone else catch them yet? While the acting feels a bit amaetur and the vibe is a little YA, the story is still interesting, so I'll keep watching. I haven't read the book, so no idea where things are headed!

Pretty good one episode in. Not without its predictable parts, but having not read the book, the "big thing" is obviously still a mystery to me.

I'm quite enjoying this series, but my main feeling is that it's been miscast. This is especially in regards to the adults, several of whom seem to be acting in a different production to what is in the script. Ben Barnes is the only one who seems to be settled in to the material.

It's more low-budget than I was expecting, but that doesn't really bother me.

Totally agree with this. In particular, Jason Diaz as Tony (who seems to be some kind of assistant, as well as "the muscle" when needed) is pretty awful. I don't know what he's doing in his role, but it ain't good.

Still a decent show overall!

The finale was freaking excellent. This was one of the best shows I’ve seen in quite some time. Going to read the book asap.
