Default Playback on SONY XL202

My SONY XL202 media centre will not recognise the Blue Ray disc. This is the first one I have tried. Contacted SONY who after reinstaling drivers advised as it was a new product they would have to get back to me. Anyone else experienced this problem or idea for solution.

Hi just did a check and found a review of this unit

http://www.cnet.co.uk/misc/print/0,3...9285076,00.htm

Don't try playing your Blu-ray flicks through Windows Media Center though -- it doesn't have the foggiest idea what to do with them, telling us in no uncertain terms that there was no disc inserted. You'll need to use the accompanying Intervideo WinDVD BD 5.0 software. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with this but it's a pain having to swap between multimedia applications -- especially as Media Center was designed to negate this hassle. As a result you won't be able to use the Media Center remote to control Blu-ray playback -- you'll need to use the wireless keyboard.

Hope this helps !!

I didn't think that retail Blu-ray discs (movies) played at all on the Blu-Ray PC Drives, I thought they were just for use with camcorders and for storage?...

I've had my XL-202 since the middle of October and it really is a fabulous machine. Its played every disc I've got hold of so far via my KDL40X2000. I have played the following:

Lord of War
Tears of the Sun
MPEG 2

Swordfish
Corpse Bride

VC 1

I keep promising to do a review, but I'm too busy enjoying the product I can't find the time to actually detail my experiences.

Full specs are listed here including media formats the Optical Drive supports.
