Default Will There Be Commercials On BDs?

Is it Possible That Someday There Will Be Commercials On BDs Such As Seen In Theaters Now?

I dislike those commercials in theaters with passion. Maybe someday they will show up in BDs...but at least I can fast forward to the movie itself.

I sure hope not, trailers are bad enough, I just want to be able to pop a movie in and get right to watching it. I thought one of the points of home entertainment was to avoid commercials.

If they do that, the price better drop! Would be funny though in 10-15 years to go back and watch the commercials, and look at products that failed.

I'm actually surprised we don't have them already on DVD. I bet there will be some unwanted ad content in BD-Live stuff.

Yeah. Once it's live the advertisers will be eager to get there products advertised. The upside is that it should help drive BD software prices down.

VHS used to have commercials before movies. It's odd that DVD has never embraced that. I'm glad that it never has, however.

Commercials are usually attached to a specific promotion, Pizza Hut for TMNT or something. The movies do it because they make nothing on your ticket, and all the money comes from the slide show, the commercials and the snack bar.

Trailers are complete bullshit.

If MSRP on a disc is $40, I should be able to skip through every single trailer on the disc and go straight to the menu, or the movie should immediately start playing. This goes for commercial releases especially, since most collector's items (Blade Runner 5 disc set) usually do immediately go into the film.

I think it was Casino Royale or Gone Baby Gone that made it so I had to skip every trailer individually. I was insulted.

If I'm buying a budget disc, I'll put up with some trailers. $9.99 big-box priced disc? That's cool. I accept that. Again though, if MSRP on some DVD is $25, or $40 Blu ray, I better not have to see a single trailer. I'm paying for that privelidge.

are you guys talking about movie trailers as "commercials" or commercials like we see in actual tv?...i don't mind the trailers as long as they aren't like tv commercials....then again you can always skip either....

I don't think the OP wants commercials... just wondering if anyone thought it might happen.

Right. I remember when Phantom Menace came out in the theatre. Lucas wanted 100% of concession money too, for the opening week....Of course he only got like 80%. I'll never forget that.

I had thought the same thing.... Can't go anywhere without seeing advertisements anymore. How many times have I seen the dumb mini people appear in the corner during movies.... And the ones with sound are even worse....

I can handle trailers but only if I have the option of skipping them. It would be nice if they had a skip button like some websites have. That way you ccan watch if you want or go straight to the menu if you want and not have to keep hitting the skip button 6 times just to get past all of the trailers.

Lets delete this thread real quick, before some studio exec reads it and gets an idea of how to bank in on some extra money!!!

They better not be wasting a single bit on the disc with advertisement other than trailers or BD ads themselves!!!

Well if you've ever watched Air Force One there are other film ads before it starts. But they are all skipable its the day ads on BDs are for anything and you cant skip them then I'll blow my brains out.
