Default Stupid Best Buy employees...

I was at Best Buy last night buying a movie. A guy who I know who works at EBX got in line behind me. I am amazed at the stupidity of stores employees.

EBX guy... Hey how's it going?
Me....... All right movie night for you.
EBX guy.... yeah i am going to load some of these on my psp.
Me..... I need to buy one so I don't have to keep taking my wifes.
B.B. employee..... Taps my Blu movie ya know Blu ray players UPGRADE these dvd's
Me
EBX guy....
Me... Oh yeah my dvd player UPSCALES dvd's
B.B. employee.... no you don't understand. Blu ray players upgrade dvd's (taps my movie again).
EBX guy...
Me....
Me... I have mine set to 480i and my REON chip in my Onkyo upscales them better. They still look like crap though I usually only watch Blu.
B.B. employee.... Well if you have a Blu ray player it UPGRADES these dvd's (taps Blu case again)

No disrespect to anyone here that works at B.B but I really hate going in there and talking to the stupid employees, ecpessially the cashiers. I avoid conversation at all costs. They are always trying to push other garbage on me (magazines, credit cards, service plans). I would have been so anoyyed in your position Skull!

I was in there 2 weeks ago buying a Blu and the cashier made sure, 2 to 3 times, that I owned a B.D player or, "this won't play on a DVD player".

i try to avoid bb employees when im there. although my experiences so far from convos ive overheard with bb employees have generally been good. the people that really bug me are the ebgames employees...

Agreed, but asking me 2, 3 times? I told him, "ya I know, ya I know". Just sometimes you get treated like your a complete moron. When more often than not, as in Skulls case, the employees are clueless.

Wow, what was that BB employee thinking? You'd think that they would be better trained in the tech stuff. That's just me, but if you're going to sell something, you may as well do your research and learn about the stuff that you're selling.

I just can't depend on anything they tell me being true, I feel. So much easier to do my own research to buy.

You have to find the right people. People who are here just to get a paycheck, and people who are here while going to school/working other jobs that genuinely love technology. Find which side you are talking to, and then judge. Also, keep in mind that we place people according to skill (typically, unless staffing is a major problem). Any monkey can ring up/find a movie in our stock count. We don't let those people near home theater or computers unless we are REALLY desperate for a headcount.

That's great, in theory, it should work. But the number of times I've been back by the HDs and really good stuff, and heard employees say "I don't know" or just rattle off some incoherent nonsense to make a sale is mind-boggling.

I have an idea. If you can give me the store(s) you are referring to, I can make some calls to see what's going on. Relaying feedback IS part of my job and I think this is a great way to get feedback from people that aren't asstarded

best buy is horrid for that stuff but then again radio shack makes them look good. I went into the local radio shack to get a longer amp trigger cable... I see the young girl there who looks like she is 16 asking me can i help you?

I said yes I need a 12 foot long amp trigger cable and tell her its a 1/8th inch mono audio cable... she looks dumbfounded and says we dont have those. I look right at her and say I bet you your job you do have them you just dont know what they are. at this point shes pissed and walks away to the back room so she can go play with her cellphone. I find what i want pay for it and the clerk at the desk asked me if the girl helped me. I said no she didnt have a clue, as i walk out i see the clerk and the girl laughing at me as I walk out. no wonder rat shack isnt doing so well.
