Default The BLU-RAY MOVIES that would end the HD War are...

If you're like me, I'm tired of the not so fantastic movies being released on BLU-RAY. From a product positioning standpoint, I guess I may understand why, but I want to end this war with the year 2007. Now that Sony has shipped 1 Million PS3s let's get the Troops ready!! Post the 5 Movies you MUST HAVE on BD-ROM to increase sales, and end this HD Format War!

1) Spider-Man2 (Summer 07...betcha)
2) The Incredibles (Christmas '07)
3) Matrix Reloaded (Spring '07)
4) Batman Begins (Better be soon!)
5) Transformers (Hopefully in time for Christmas '07)

**Let the Consortium know what we want to buy!**

2) Most of the bond series ( me )
3) how to lose a guy in 10 days ( wife )
4) Pirates 1,2,3 ( family )
5) Star wars/Lotr(even if its released on HDdvd) because they would sell out very very quickly, release at XMAS time in 07 and q2 2008 R.I.P HD-DVD

The Matrix movies will be on both formats so that ones not going to help out Blu Ray, just keep everyone happy. Warner is neutral.

Default Can one include documentaries too?

This post may be slightly off-topic. The movies already posted are great choices. I'd like to suggest some of the more recent HD documentaries telecasting on Discovery and PBS Nature. Not to mention the IMAX movies...

My list:
1. Discovery Atlas: Complete box set
2. IMAX Everest
3. IMAX: Magic of Flight
4. Discovery: The Equator Series (The "real" Middle Earth - LOL)
5. PBS - Nature specials.

True, BATMAN BEGINS is with the "TOTAL-HD" company, however it's not available on BLU-RAY yet, and I'm sure most PS3 Owners would like to have it (thus outselling the HD-DVD version), and as that grows, eventually Warner will use their TOTAL-HD idea to serve as a peace treaty or eulogy (in rememberence of HD-DVD) so those owners can feel good about themselves that less than 1/4 of all new movies released will be available to them. BTW: When I say "WIN", it does not require HD-DVD to "die", as Warner / Microsoft / Toshiba will honor it's legacy (just to not admit they were "WROOOOONG!"), it means that EVERY (worthwhile) MOVIE will be available on Blu-Ray (meaning We WON!). Instead of Beta vs VHS, I look at this war more like IE vs Netscape!

1.) Pulp Fiction
2.) Fight Club
3.) Pirates of the Caribbean (both)
4.) Matrix
5.) Any Pixar title

Honestly though, any Universal title would pretty much do it, because that would obviously mean 100% studio support. But I still can't wait for pretty much every title anybody has listed.

Just because it is available on both formats doesn't mean it can't help Blu-ray. For example: random guy walks into Best Buy and see's The Matrix AND Spider-man available on BD vs The Matrix and NO Spider-man avail on HD DVD, makes the decision to buy BD player.

1. Bond, James Bond
2. Lucas, George Lucas - Star Wars
3. Lord of the Rings
4. Indiana Jones
5. Matrix

That's about 30+ movies I would buy.

Default 20th century fox

1) Star Wars - this would probably make big headlines and give a PR push too
2) Harry Potter movies
3) Jurassic Park
4) ET (I may not like it, but aparently a lot of people do)
5) James Bond movies

I truthfully think that the tide won't turn either way based on the top 5 as much as it will when 20th Century Fox decides to stop dragging their feet and release their big guns. Even with new releases they're not releasing Blu-Ray (Illusionist) but they are supposed to be huge supporters of Blu-Ray. And to their credit they do have a healthy dose of titles available already.

I would probably add Back to the Future to the list of desired BD releases.

ET, Jurassic Park and Back To The Future are all Universal movies. They won't be on Blu-Ray until Uni finally decides to put out BDs and end the war.

Yes but the people who already own hd dvd are still getting movies. Its only the future potential buyers who look at that and see more available and decide to buy Blu Ray. What is needed is the gotta have at all cost blockbusters like Star Wars. How many copies of that title would sell. Universal Studios sees those numbers and they get antsy. You get them in the fold and its over, thats it, all she wrote.

No one at the moment, but considering they're distributed by Warner, they'll probably be neutral.
