As an atheist, the religious material - and there isn't much of it - didn't do anything for me but as an Italian-American, this film touched me. It's the first time I've ever seen a film about a real life person who actually fought for and represented the Italians, the me that didn't exist yet. Much of that feeling is due to the powerful performance from Cristiana Dell'Anna so kudos to her and much respect to the real Francesca Cabrini.

The film itself is well-shot and confidently directed but its pacing lags at times. Either the story could have used a shot of adrenaline or, more appropriately, the film itself should have been shorter. You do feel the 2 and a half hour length, unfortunately. Also, there's one turnaround from a major character that felt completely impulsive and absurd.

It worked last time, right? (box office wise)

It might even be oddly brilliant to market a PG-13 faith-based film to families and give them 2 free tickets, knowing that the family probably has 4+ people who are going to get tickets.

I liked it. For anyone on the fence, go watch it.

It's pretty good even by biopic period piece standards.

Wild to see a choice not to put a lossless track on the Region A release. There is definitely room on the disc for a TrueHD version of the Atmos track.

I am also an atheist...but I enjoyed the film. I really like the lead actress. She is excellent.
