Default How do you know if your HDTV is DTV-ready? what about those HDTV antenna?

Mine says it has ASTC/QAM tuner or something, is that the one?

I'm seriously considering getting a HDTV antenna and cancel my cable subscription because I don't watch TV that much (now only for weather and for local news)
are those antennas gonna work after the transition?

thanks

http://www.hdtvprimer.com/ check this site out. It should provide plenty of info for ya. Check out "erecting an antenna" and /or anything else that grabs your attention.

Yes. Any current antenna will work fine.

everyone is staring at me right now because I have a big grin on my face. I guess I had my fun for the day! now they're laughing at me. I hope I don't have to explain.

I hear you on that. When I get home from work, I'm either on the internet or watching Blu-Rays or DvD's.

There really isn't anything on TV anymore that interests me.

Anyone else??

Yes. I currently pull all of my TV in via a UHF antenna in my attic (depending on where you are, you may need VHF as well. I do not.) The antennas will work after the transition--what most people don't know is that some 80% of TV stations are already broadcasting in digital alongside analog. Just plug the antenna into your TV, and enjoy free OTA digital HDTV programming!
