This guy is somewhat of a joke. Cloverfield 4.5 stars for a movie? I would give it a 1, maybe 2 at most. 2.5 for Blades of Glory and a 3.5 for Anger Management? A 5 for Shoot Em Up? Those are some questionable reviews. He does a good job with the other categories but we definitely have different tastes in movies.

Hey,
It's not like there aren't maybe hundreds of other well known movie review sites. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/ http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/cloverfield/ Lots of Blu Ray reviews at dvdtalk and highdefdigest among other places. -Brian |

I would look into Widescreen Review for movie reviews. They are very objective and to the point. The only problem I ever had with them was in the early days of DVD when they gave some good ratings to a few bad DVD's such as Highlander - a picture that had just about every type of compression artifact that was given a name. The PQ was sub VHS at times. Other then that, their reviews are first rate.

This is the best place to get reviews on the quality of the presentation on the disc, no holds barred. However, the movie content is the most subjective aspect of reviewing. Also, it's worth noting that the same guy doesn't review every disc. We have several different reviewers here, so varying film tastes among the reviewers must also be considered. Just do what I do...skip the opinion about the movie, and read up on the good stuff--the tech performance! EDIT: oops, haha. Didn't notice the date on this thread. Sorry for resurrecting! |

IMO the movie part of the review should be left out, as PQ and AQ are what matters. OR just take the review from a average like RT.com does.

I usually go with the Amazon customer reviews. For me, the typically match how I feel about the movies. For example, Cloverfield was rated 3.5, and I thought it was the same as well. Not the greatest movie, but certainly it wasn't bad either.

I generally agree with the PQ/SQ sections of the review. If it's a movie that i've never seen, then yes I'll read the actual movie review to help me form a decision. |
