Well finally something has gone wrong with my HDTV. Right in the middle of rewatching Shoot Em Up the screen suddenly went wacky. The picture still shows up and everything but now there is like faint horizontal bars and on the right side of the screen there is like a weird strobing/ghosting effect going on when there is motion.

I don't know about the horizontal bars, but strobing can sometimes be caused by Samsung's dynamic contrast. If you have DC enabled, try turning it off.

this is from samsung's website.
The thin or faint red, green, white, or black line you see running through your LCD TV may be a line of dead pixels. With that said, what we do about an LCD TV with dead pixels depends on: The number of dead pixels The location of the dead pixels The color of the dead pixels The size of the LCD TV screen If you are having a serious problem with dead pixels, gather the information listed above and call Samsung Customer Care at 1-800-Samsung (1-800-726-7864) any day between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Have the model number and serial number of your TV on hand when you call. or Ghosting When You Are Using Your LCD TV Strictly As A TV If your new, LN-T series LCD TV is ghosting, most likely you have the Digital NR (Noise Reduction) function on. To alleviate the ghosting, try turning the Digital NR function off. To turn the Digital NR function off, follow these steps: Press the Menu button. The Main menu appears. Press the Enter button to select Picture. The Picture menu appears. Use the Up or Down arrow button to highlight Digital NR. Press the Enter button to select Digital NR. Use the Up or Down arrow button to highlight Off, and then press the Enter button. Press the Exit button to exit. |

I got the TV about a year ago I guess. And no this isn't something to do with a setting there is something going on with the screen. It just instantly happened in the middle of watching Shoot Em Up. There is also this flickering at the bottom of the screen. Thanks for trying to help though I appreciate it. And that number you gave me how does that work? Do I call them and they can send someone to my house to fix it? If so how much does something like that cost?

if you purchased an extended protection plan with your tv when you bought it, for larger tv's (usually 32'' and up) it is an in home coverage that is fully covered. i believe that if you only have a manufacturer warranties, you must bring it to one of their authorized service centers to have it repaired. and they may have to send it to the manufacturer depending on the issue.

I am not sure how the number works, but I would call and talk with someone at customer service first, I would wait to call out a repair man right away. Some of them don't know what they are doing and will charge you too much. I know some one that called a repair person and has nothing but issues still. See if Samsung CS has a recommended serivce center in your area. I know there is one in LA for me, but you will need to check on your area of the country.

Appreciate it but like I said this has nothing to do with settings. It is an obvious problem with the screen that just happened in the middle of watching a movie. I already know its a problem just need to know what exactly it is and how to fix it. Messing with the settings just changes the colors of the horizontal bars...lol.
