Default Pineapple Express vs. Tropic Thunder

Which film did you prefer.

I thought I would like tropic thunder more due to the hype of early reviews
But... I didnt find it as funny as Pineapple Express
what do you all think?

They are both fantastic comedies but I think Tropic Thunder just had more laughes per second and it has way more memorable moments when compared to Pineapple. Still I will be buying both 1st day.

Your post is almost word-for-word what I was going to type... except for the "buying both 1st day" business. I'll only be picking up 'Tropic Thunder.' 'Pineapple Express' was more of a "one time viewing" good comedy for me. It is certainly no 'Dumb & Dumber.'

I thought Tropic Thunder had more big laughs and more characters with great one-liners. Pinapple Express was funny though and if you want to see a great "character" then James Franco alone is a reason to watch it, too funny!

I'm not usually the "stupid comedy" guy, but my wife and I went to Pineapple Express and really enjoyed it. I thought James Franco was great (OT but he gets my vote for the Joker replacement).

I haven't seen Tropic Thunder yet (thought I want to) but I heartily recommend PE... especially if you are or know someone who is "familiar with the situations" presented in the movie.

Agreed, Franco was amazing in PE and probably deserves some sort of award buzz... i'm actually serious. He nailed it!!!

indeed. Franco stole the show. He let me down so bad in spiderman 3 with that " this pie is so good" or whatever line.

He was awesome in this movie

back on topic, i haven't seen tropic thunder but plan on going by the end of the week

I liked both movies, but Tropic Thunder was nicer for me because my friends and I always watched movies like Apocolypse Now, Platoon, etc. and it was great to see a send up those. Well, Tropic Thunder was more a send up of the actors playing those roles than a send up of the movies themselves, but you know what I mean. Tropic Thunder is a definite purchase while Pineapple Express may not be even though it did have me laughing.

Like someone else said, PE might only be a one-timer, unlike Dumb and Dumber (which I laugh as hard at if not more each time I watch it). TT's replay value is yet to be determined but for the mere fact that I explained above, I will be getting.

This poll was too hard to vote. Both movies were amazing. I also think Stepbrothers should have been included. It was easily the funniest movie month of my life. Those 3 movies in a 4 weeks period.
