Samsung BD-1400 problem - Blu-ray Forum

Hi

just bought this yesterday, upgraded firmware this morning and it plays SD DVDs no problem (has annoying 4:3 aspect, not sure how to have it auto stretch like the PS3)

I just rented first bluray movie "sunshine" i put it in and a white circle (made of individual circles) apears and it looks like its loading,,,, the dront display on the player says slideshow, it does this for a while and then after like 45 secs or so the movie menu shows up
is this normal?

yes. BD-Java takes some time to load. Firmware updates have improved upon this.

Yup, that is normal. Load times very per movie.

oh, so thats ok.. but the movie i rented was sunshine its old.... so all the movies will load like this? is there no way to bypass this or something to speed it up

It was one of the first titles to utilize bd-java along with War I think. Most movies will load in about thirty seconds, but can take up to a minute or so. No way to bypass that I am aware of.
