Am waiting for this to come out and use it with my Marantz SR9600 with its HDMI 1.1 -- looks like it will do everything I need (7.1 analog outputs, bitstream, PCM decoding) so will not have to upgrade my Receiver.

Hope we get more word on availability and product details soon...I am very anxious...

I just picked up my new Marantz BD-8002 Friday morning. I ordered it back in May , Went on back order fast sold out. Well it finally came in , hooked it up and did alot of reading on here and other forums and the manual , I can say this is one heck of a machine. Size is massive and the build Quality is like a Tank. Anyways After a few hours playing with setup and figueing out the menu's I threw in the Movie Hitman WOW the pic & Audio was awsome. the bass is deep and moving, Then came Top Gun Played it in Dolby True HD 1st really good then switched it over to DTS Master Audio , It blew me away , DTS MA is way better than DD true HD any day , the Pic Quality was good ,but I still have to tweek it alittle alot of things can be done to it , 1st thing you have to do is change the IRE setting from 7.5 to .o this make the blacks deeper and the pic more brighter, also thier is so many options for you to play with , & some things you can't do from the reg. menu you have to put a disc in and play it to beable to change the settings , different but okay once you figure it out.Next i threw in a standard DVD Alvin & the chimpmunks (my little girls ) anyways the begining with the colors are showing was unbelivable , I was really impressed with this also upconvert was again perfect , Now here it also shine's 2 channel stereo playback put in a few cd's and man this unit can play Music from heaven , the sound is parr from none , really impressed me , so much that I was going to buy a SACD player next like the Marantz SA-8001 or the DV-7001 these two have good reviews for music playback , But for right now I wiil hold off buying a cd player,
As for really good break down for specs go to crutchfield .com and read the reserch spec , it has more than the marantz site , also I goggled it and read alot tonight on the player , This unit cost $2,000.00 And I think its well worth it, Ihave been a marantz fan for years ,this is the forth system I have built and alway been marantz for EQ. & Klipsch for speakers.
I also seen the Marantz BD-7003 coming out & read the specs as with the CD 5003 , MY biggest problem with the new units is looks !! I really don't like the new look I know its only $799.00 but looks is alot to me , And I also have the Marantz SR-7002 RECV so the BD-8002 matches well. And also if I get the Marantz SA-8001 it will match too, LOL As for me My new system rocks really well and I'm very very happy with it all,

Also if anyone has any input on the settings please post . Problems or need help..

My build date on the unit was August 2008 , so it looks like a 2nd run on production ,but hey got it in a month .lol

Awesome Sandman. How would you characterize the two channel stereo analog output for cds? Is it an analytical or detailed sound? Any comparisons with other cd players you've heard? Warm or digital sounding maybe?
