Which receiver/HT package from Best Buy? - Blu-ray Forum

I have about a total of 550 dollars from gift cards and gift certificate from Best Buy. Since I'm new I just wanted to get the Onkyo HT6100 but they don't have any Onkyo at Best Buy. So, the question is which receiver should I get from best buy. Also what would be good speakers to go with it? I want a 7.1 system for my blu-ray player (mainly PS3.)

Oof, I don't know what packages Best Buy has, let me give it a look see, I'm thinking Polk and Sony...let me look for you. Stay AWAY from Home Theater in a Box, though!

If your Blu-ray player, is a PS3, you just need a receiver than can pass PCM.

Try these for speakers:

They are expensive here from BB, though. Could be had for cheaper.

And try a Sony STR-DG720 or STR-DG820 for your receiver.

Again, these are all if you're considering Best Buy's product line only.

Thanx for the help. I'll look into the Sony receivers, and the speakers, I'll try to price match them so I can buy more stuff. Thanx again.

You could sell the gift cards on ebay and use the funds to buy something a lot nicer. $500 for that polk setup seems pretty pricey but thats bestbuy (worstbuy imo). They like to stick it to the ill informed.

If you want more info to what can be purchase around that price range (from anywhere) check out this thread.500$~600$ Budget for my Home Theater. In conclusion the sony towers seem like the best bang for your buck and will offer much better sound quality. I dont think they will sell them at BB, if they do the price will be outrageous.
