Members list - Blu-ray Forum

Didn't there used to be a members list? Has this disappeared or am I just not looking in the right place?

I noticed it's gone to. If you want to see who's on you can go to the forum section and go to the bottom of the page

to prevent would be spam attackers from having a member database to prey from.

Actually I used it more to see if certain members were banned or suspended.

banned members never showed up in the member list anyhow

then why would you need a members list to search banned members if they arent there in the first place? Your reasoning for needing the list isnt making much sense?!

If you know that a particular poster was once a member and don't find them in the members list, does that not indicate something?

The problem I have with that is it is nice to log on and be able to see if your friends are on right away or not.

Actually, with "brute force" attacks you would want an inactive member so you could try to log in as them with every imaginable password....

Brute Force:

Scan member list > find inactive member > log in with the username and simple password that they might use (i.e. password, username, 123456, etc.) > send out spam as user

I was thinking an inactive member (one that never logs in and has newbie by their name) that probably signed up for a quick question more than likely has an easier password than regular posters.

vBulletin needs a MySpace-like password system that requires numbers, letters, and special characters. It's much more secure
