Warner said they will release The Matrix trilogy when the BD-Java environment is ready to go, so we have more supplemental materials and interactive features. This leads me to a comment and a question:
I don't care, at all, about the special features on movies. I buy Blu-ray movies for the increase in video and audio quality. Who here cares so much about the special features that they are glad Warner, and other studios, are waiting to release titles on BR because they want the better supplemental materials? I hardly ever even look at special features. I look at deleted scenes, and I do like commentary when it is Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Other than that, just give me the movie. I just want some other people's thoughts on this. |

Yeah I think this blows. Give me the best possible audio and video encodes and thats all I need.

I hardly ever watch "making of", audio commentary, etc. I would think IME would be more distracting than anything, but some studios obviously feel otherwise.
The coolest new feature on BD (for me) is the pop-up menu, so that I can change settings/jump scenes without ending the movie. You can have everything else. |

HD-DVD obviously have the upper hand in that area and BD, without the features are outselling them |

yeah, the raison d'etre of High Definition is *gasp* High Definition, all the other things peripheral to watching the movie are just that: peripheral!
I mean do I want my BD to have Pip so I can watch Keanu Reeves saying woa while he watches the Matrix in low bitrate VC-1 you know the answer to that |

I don't necessarily care about all the feature at this point (like PiP which in not really a BD-Java function from what Paidgeek said).
But, I do care about all Blu-ray is capable of in the long run. IMO, in the long run, it's better to have and not want than to want and not have. |

I like extras (very much so if they are done well, informative, in HD, etc.) but the fact is I watch the movie many more times than I do the extras.
Warner should put out something on BD minus the damn IME day and date with the IME enabled HD and see what happens. |

the special features are vital to certain movies....basically ur favorites...It makes the expierence last longer and get ur moneys worth out of the disc, these things cost about 30 bucks a pop, I want all the content I can get damn it..lol.....I personally love the commentary tracks and the deleted scenes and the making of...I like to see what goes into the movie and how its made, its almost inspiring in a way...but anyways, special features rule

I don't really care about extras themselves so much, but what I do care about is that HD releases get the same (or better) extras as their DVD counterparts. Some extras are worth having while others aren't, and it's hard to say generally that commentaries or "making of" sucks - it all depends on how they're made. Some commentary tracks are awesome and some are downright horrible for instance.
If the studios are going to be able to sell the new HD formats to Joe6P they *need* those extras as simple high-def video and audio alone isn't going to cut it. While it's annoying that Blu-ray releases get delayed because the extra interactivity features aren't there yet, I don't think it'll hurt in the long run and it also means we'll have one release of a movie, not one stripped and one with features. |

I do care about extras that have QUALITY. Extras that are just fluff is not needed. And with BD, the EXTRAS should be of high quality SD video AT LEAST.

I prefer the extra space to be used by high bitrates for video and audio.
Keep it High Defenition and don't use the space for 480i extras. |

The only thing I ever watch in the extras are the deleted scenes otherwise its a waste of space. Just give me the best possible presentation period.
