Wow. At least your shame is minimized by the fact that you were watching football.

I totally agree they don't deserve to call themselves gnr without any of the
original members except him...But it is what it is, i couldn't resist, it's definately nothing like there old stuff..

haven't heard the cd. But I like Better. That techno song they have on Rock Band 2 sucks. There was another song I heard on the radio that i swear was them and it sounded good

I like it.. It's pretty good, but I would have thought it was a lot better had he released this 10 years ago. Theres no way that it could live up to the hype. I mean THIS is what took 14 years to release? and to be honest what i expect from something called GN'R is a punk/hard rock adrenaline kick to the a$$. There are way too many 'slowish' songs, half of it is kinda boring to be honest.

That being said AXL needs to do 2 things..

1. Release another cd within a year or 2
2. Get back the original members.. enough is enough already.

But Axl sounds like Axl and thats a good thing if you ask me.

Not only will I not listen to it,... I won't even ask for the free Dr. Pepper.

(Wouldn't want to encourage yet another record 14 years from now.)

I was never a GnR fan but a few songs on Appetite were fun for a while.

i fully intend on buying it asap. i don't particularly like guns n roses, but the hype surrounding this has me very interested. plus it's gotten some excellent reviews.

Listen to Velvet Revolver, I think they are the real GNR these days. That being said, I have listen to a few songs of C.D and it isn't bad but compare to original GNR, it sucks. I personally like Shackler's Revenge. Good riffs but bad vocals from Axl.

I've listened to Contraband at least a dozen times and really can't get into Velvet Revolver. I never really cared for Scott Weiland and the rest of the band doesn't seem to have nearly the same edge as they did in GNR.

I got it tonight. Not too bad, only listened a few times though. Nothing stands out as truly memorable, at least not after a few listens. Worst case is I make a copy and resell the original for a few $ on eBay.

I don't get caught up in the "oooh, this is not the original band line-up" closed-mindedness. Sure, if you don't like it or this type of music then fine. But to refuse to listen because it ain't like the good old days is a bit silly.

problem is velvet revolver has disbanded. they couldn't stay together for more than 2 albums either. beginning to wonder if the problem with the rest of the original band members of guns n'roses and not axel rose as many seem to think.

Default Velvet Revolver, Scott Weiland

After seeing VR a few times, (they were pretty damn great) then hearing him in interviews leading up to the disbanding, and then seeing Scott interviewed many times and on tour With STP I would say the problem is clearly with Scott.Reports are He was kicked out or quit because he wasn't getting along with the other guys in VR on a personal or artistic level. part of that was the drugs im sure, the other part is the other guys in VR wanted to make kick ass rock music and Scott fought them all the way for more 'experimental' sound. and if you have heard any of his solo record I think you know what he wanted.. not so good IMO.

He's obviously still into 'something. Completely slurring his words, being incoherent and showing up late for gigs. when I saw STP perform this past summer, they were late starting, and while the performance itself was good, it wasn't great like the other times i had seen STP or even the summer before when i saw Scott perform with VR. The whole band was clearly frustrated with the in between ramblings of Scott. Robert in particular (thank god) would stop him after a minute of nonsensical blather and say something to end it and immediately go into a bass riff to get them going again. it was quite sad.

VR hasn't disbanded, they just kicked Scott out. I really liked Libertad, moreso than Contraband, and definitely moreso than Chinese Democracy. There a few good songs, but all in all it was Slash, Duff and Izzy that I liked most about Gn'R. So having 2/3 of that combo in Velvet Revolver kinda makes sense I would like them more. That being said, I've been saying this on Blabbermouth for some time....Shooter Jennings for Velvet Revolver!!!! (If not Izzy)
