Default Speaker Impendence?

I have an Onkyo tx-805 reciever with infinity rs5 as my main speakers and a infinity center and rears. I dont have a sub yet. MY receiver has two setting for speaker impendence 4ohm or 6 ohm? Which should I use for optimal settings?

Thanks

The answer to your question depends on the speakers that you are using. If your speakers are 4 ohm, I would set it to 4ohm. If your speakers are 6ohm or 8ohm, then I would set it to 6ohm. Just to be on the safe side, do not use 4ohm speakers with your receiver. Most receivers do not handle 4ohm speakers at loud volume and get too hot. Read the thread Impedance & Sensitivity of a Speaker. It has sticky under Speaker Discussion.

I'm pretty sure there is only an 8ohm and 4ohm setting on the 805. I would leave it on 8ohm mode if all your speakers aren't 4 ohms.

Your speakers are 8ohms so if Driverking is right about your reciever set to 8. If your right about 6 or 4 ohms set it to 6ohms like BigDaddy said

I would be surprised if your reciever didn't have a 8ohm setting

Here's some specs on your speakers ,you have to go down the page
