Default PS3 On SD Plasma

I need a little help in understanding some points on SD and HD. I have a SD Plasma TV that I bought about 4 years ago when it was imposible to afford a HD LCD or Plasma. The TV has served me very well and I am very happy with it. I now own a PS3, and I have this connected via a HDMI port on my plasma. My plasma also supports HD input. I am very impressed with the PQ of BD compared to my SD DVD. My question is, how much better would it be with a HD plasma?

yep sd 480 hmm well in that case yes at that size the jump to 720p would be huge the jump to 1080p would be amazing i use a 720p 20in display and a 720p 100in projector and the difference is as clear as day lol

Check my HT gallery. They are of my 1080p Panny Plasma. Just an idea of what Blu-ray looks like using my PS3.

Yes plasma is SD. I must say though, BD PQ looks amazing on my TV campared to DVD. If going to HD plasma looks clear as day v's night, then wow.
Thanks.

Default Your TV

Your tv is NOT and SD tv, rather an EDTV (Enhanced Definition). EDTV native res are 480p. I personally have an older panasonic EDTV plasma - its picture is almost as good as some of the 1080p LCDs out there - even looks good next to my 1080 Pioneer Elite. Your TV will accept and display HD signals, there's just physically less pixels on the screen (your ED res e= 852*480, hd=720/1080)
hope this helps...

I've never heard of EDTV. How does this differ from SD or HD?

When I press the button on my remote it shows resolution on the tv as 1080i. That's what I have my PS3 set on. my Plasma looks great, just not sure if spending $2500 on a HD Plasma will give a bigger bang for my bucks.

For the $595-$650 the 720p 42" Panny Plasmas are going for these days, I would absolutely upgrade.

Why would Panasonic put an HDMI port on an EDTV back when HDMI was not common at all...

If you have a Wii then it will look as nice as possible on that screen.
