This is some exciting news! For all of you that have been waiting for 'Afro Samurai' to hit the states (like me), this is some much welcome news, to say the least. I simply can't wait for this title!
Samuel L. Jackson in anime with the beats from RZA! Pure win. http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Afr...ut-Bluray/9527 Afro Samurai: Season One Blu-ray.com Review Last edited by Deciazulado; 09-02-2008 at 08:36 PM. Reason: added review link |

This is the director's cut version, one seamless movie. That's another reason that I'm excited. I've been jonesing for this one, and was contemplating picking up the Japanese import for $60.00. Glad that I waited.

Same here, Rob. That's when I snagged Predator and ID4 from that sale, then I just said to myself, "Screw it, I'll just wait it out."

man this movie is the best animation movie ever. i dont like Japanese animated cartoons, but this one is an exception due to its intense action and amazing sound track. the ending is the best ending ever; better than any movie ever created and filmed. the ending was so good, in fact, that they shouldn't make a season 2 because it would ruin the best ending ever.

Forgot to post this on here.
Very happy with how this one turned out. The picture quality is pretty excellent. The PQ looks hazy in parts, but I think it's more from the style of the production than a technical fault. I'd definitely give the PQ an 8.5 or 9 out of 10. The encode is 1080p AVC, averaging 18Mbps. I saw it top out at about 28 Mbps. The audio is also very good. It's a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, and also has a Stereo track. Track sounds very good, with dialogue crystal clear. Some good dynamic effects, as well. Special features are decent, but there aren't very many of them. I think they're all from the Director's Cut DVD. They're all in SD. There's a voice talent featurette, a RZA music thing, character profiles with commentary, and trailers. Overall, this is a really good buy. I'd never seen the series before, but I really enjoyed it. Pick this up, especially for 20 bucks. |
