Default ANOTHER Planet of the Apes Reboot

Apparently this time it's going to be a prequel to the original Planet of the Apes story, so therefore a reboot of "Conquest of the Planet of Apes."

I might be one of the only people who actually liked Tim Burton's remake. I didn't think it was better than the original or by any means a great movie, but thought it was entertaining enough. Either way, reboot seems to be the new buzzword in Hollywood these days.

I enjoyed the remake...but I thought the casting was pretty bad (for the humans...all the apes were awesome).

A reboot could be interesting, but I find it extremely unnecessary

I enjoyed it also. Tim Roth as General Thade was amazing.

I don't get it. How can any of the Planet of the Apes movies have a prequel? I'm wondering what stupid story they're going to create. I would clearly understand a sequel to the Mark Whalberg version because it left an opening in the end.

Totaly agree, a reboot with a prequel doesn't make much sense, while a sequel to the Tim Burton version would certainly make way more sense

they're doing a reboot of a POTA movie that was already made...Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, which is a prequel to Planet of the Apes.

The five Planet of the Apes movies form a time sequence that wraps around and joins itself. That's probably what is meant.

On the other point, I did like the Burton remake but the two main humans were so-so.

Actually, there has been talk for a remake for some time. The internet bloggers brought up the story trying to give it legs...It's worked, but the original article talks about how they are hopping the studio will listen up. It'll be interesting to see if something happens with this.

I think in Hollywood these days, "reboot" = We don't have an original idea!!

Remakes and Sequels have been a part of Hollywood for a long time. There are plenty of good original movies out there. Problem is, no one goes to see them.

9 of the top 20 money makers (so far) this year are either sequels/remakes or TV made to movies. Which doesn't mean they are good.

Hollywood has been brain dead for a long time.

High Sierra (1941) with Humphrey Bogart was remade twice. In 1949 with Colorado Territory and in 1955 with I Died A Thousand Times.

Remakes don't bother me. As long as it does something new and doesn't suck.

I've been wanting a sequel to that for a long time. I enjoyed it very much, and it made me want to purchase the originals to see what it was based on. I would love to see them do a sequel to Wahlbergs movie and follow that new timeline.

well if this reboot ends up happening i'm pretty sure we can all forget a sequel to burton's apes. i'd like to see one too, especially after burton's reimagining of the ending (which a lot of people actually hated) and where he would go with the next one.

Aaaaannnnd they now have a director. Looks like it's moving forward folks. It's being directed by Scott Frank (The Lookout).

Quote:
Now 20th Century Fox is putting him in charge of revitalizing Planet of the Apes. It’s not being called Planet of the Apes: Genesis as rumored elsewhere though, they’re calling it Caesar.

Here’s the official plot synopsis from PW: “The origins of how the Apes took over Earth. A hyper-intelligent chimp raised by humans incites a worldwide ape revolution and causes the downfall of mankind.”
So it does sound like a remake of 1972’s Conquest of the Planet of the Apes

Not going anywhere near this. Never saw the Tim Burtout version and never will. This franchise is close to my heart and will remain that way.

interesting........i wonder how much different the apes in this will look than in burton's version. i guess if its an origin film (seems to be a favorite in hollywood these days) they won't be as evolved or whatever yet.
