Just to start off, this is an absolute no-brainer blind buy... you won't be disappointed AT ALL, just trust us on this one But to answer your question.... I also like Saving Private Ryan (of course), Blackhawk Down, Enemy at the Gates, Flags of Our Fathers, and pretty much any History Channel type war documentary. Saving Private Ryan would be the one that is MOST comparable in terms of style, grittiness, realism, etc... but the others I mentioned are in my opinion other very well done war movies. A couple movies I did NOT like would be We Were Soldiers, Windtalkers, and Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor... I can't believe they'd put a crappy love story smack in the middle of one of the most important events in our nation's military history... but anyway, hope this helps!

The obvious comparison is Saving Private Ryan.

To me, Band of Brothers has the exact same look and feel as Saving Private Ryan as they are both coming from Spielberg. So if you liked that, then you should enjoy Band of Brothers. But I have to say that any fan of war movies in general should enjoy this because it is a wonderful mini-series, and possibly one of the greatest things ever to come from television.

I'm renting this series this week through Blockbuster online. I'll let you know how it is. You may also like Full Metal Jacket and if you are old-school Platoon and Apocalypse Now, but only Full Metal Jacket is on BD at this point, but if you don't mind upconversion...

Takes place during The Battle of the Bulge. It is a low budget film, but pretty good. It was made in 2003. I checked Amazon and it looks like it's available on Blu-ray.

But definitely pick up Band of Brothers, it is outstanding!

Huh? FMJ doesn't make sense or look real. It's not as battle heavy as some war movies are, if that's what you mean be real looking? Kubrick never butchered a movie in his life.
