Somehow, I missed the news about the release of this H.P. Lovecraft adaptation on Blu-ray!!!

Full Moon Features is set to release director C. Courtney Joyner's Lurking Fear (1994), which stars John Finch, Blake Adams, Ashley Laurence and Jeffrey Combs. The film is based on the writings of H.P. Lovecraft and has been digitally restored from the original 35mm negative and remastered in widescreen with 5.1 surround. Street date is April 11, 2017.

Synopsis: Infinite Evil... The town of Leffert's Corners has been plagued by unearthly beings for decades, and now there are only a few people left, including a local priest and a woman traumatised by the death of her sister. But when John Martense turns up to claim his illicit family fortune, with bad guys in pursuit, the last stand becomes a lot more complicated. What everyone is not aware of are the humanoid creatures lurking underneath the holy grounds!

Necronomicon and Dagon are both frequent mentions in the Vestron thread. Lionsgate may still have them. Both actually have HD masters and foreign release Blu Rays so one would think that it's not that far of a stretch to see a North American release eventually.

To be honest, it's not a very good or even remotely faithful adaptation of the Lovecraft story. In fact, the connection to Lovecraft's works is marginal at best.

Yeah, it's been available for awhile now, looks like they're finally making it available to other retailers though. Got it during one of the FM sales for $10. It's always been one of my favorite Full Moon films even though I wished they expanded on a few of the aspects further (like the desolate town, Dagon got that aspect right).

I know the movie is not a masterpiece but I love everything based on Lovecraft's stories, and particularly the adaptations with Jeffrey Combs!

If you own any other Full Moon products, the quality is around the same. I don't remember any glaring issues although I rarely look for them and tend to just enjoy the film. For a low budget film, it's likely to never look or sound as good as it currently is and is still upgrade over the previous DVD and VHS releases.

Also, the only other version that it could be compared to is the 88 Films edition, which I don't have so I'm unable to see if it's any better. There's only been a few films where 88 was the superior release, for most releases, FM & 88 are on par with each other.

As with any Full Moon blu-ray, best to wait until one of their sales when you can get it for $10. Their blu-rays don't get much cheaper than that (other than the new Puppet Master movies they've been making) but it's always guaranteed to hit that price sooner or later.

It's been available at the $10 price several times in the last year on Full Moons website as well as other retailers. It could go up, but I doubt it will go up much.

I still don't understand why you guys continue to post release date posts when the film has been available for purchase for months. I paid $9.98 for it from full moon direct on 10/21/16.

That's because the movie was exclusive to Full Moon Direct, and now it is available everywhere, but the "release date" has been postponed many times. Look at your Amazon link, it says "Release Date: April 11, 2017", Deep Discount has a release date of May 9, 2017. Full Moon Direct got it first, then, the other store can sell it.

I live in Canada, and importing movies from the USA is costly as ****, so I wait for Amazon.ca.
