He may say and do some stupid things
but i personally liked the prequel trilogy as well as the original episode 3 was by far the best of the series not for mindless action and fighting (which it scores 5 out of 5 for that) but as a good film course...the dialogue is incredibly weak at times, as is the case for all 6 movies people tend to forget how corny/lame/bad some of the dialogue was from the original trilogy and look at those movies through rose tinted glasses they are great and incredibly influential on cinema til this day yes, but not the best movies ever made |

He's like most other director's, good when he has to fight with the studio for every cent and make creative decisions, terrible when he has unlimited resources and no one "holding him back." For another example see Martin Scorcese, early work - Brilliant, later work - self-indulgent.

Now, I'll admit. I don't think that the original Star Wars movies was the best trilogy ever. It kinda went down when they brought in those Ewoks in the Return of the Jedi. The only good movie in the prequels was Episode III. That time, I think Lucas listened to his fans for a proper Star Wars movie.

We know, it's just been so long since he's said something stupid, at least two months I think it might be a personal record, that we had to take this thread and run with it.

Lucas has really tarnished his own legacy. He started out with a great idea with the SW trilogy but something happened along the way.
Actually, things started to turn in Return of the Jedi with the Ewoks and all the screen time they got dancing around and Chewbacca making the Tarzan noise when he swung onto the AT-ST. That's where all that cutsey, childish stuff began and it carried over to Jar Jar Binks. For whatever reason, he seems to love comic relief and bumbling sidekicks a little too much. Funny thing is, is that Empire Strikes Back is the best of the SW legacy and Lucas didn't even direct it. Chew on that one. |
