Default Sleeping Dogs - Out Now !

Quote:
Inspired by classic Hollywood and Asian cinema style action thrillers, Sleeping Dogs is a gritty open-world cop drama set in the vibrant city of Hong Kong. Sleeping Dogs catapults players into the role of undercover cop Wei Shen, tasked with taking down one of the world’s most fearsome criminal organizations from the inside... the Hong Kong Triads. As players explore the bustling and crowded Hong Kong island, through its neon-lit side streets and sprawling street markets, an incredible story unfolds of loyalty and betrayal where Wei begins to question his own motives as he is sucked in deeper than he could ever imagine.

Offering players an island packed with action, every street corner, market stall, harbor dock or city skyscraper can become an opportunity for intense shoot-outs, adrenaline-fueled street races and intense, brutal martial arts combat. Featuring one of the most intuitive and imaginative combat systems, Sleeping Dogs empowers players to perform an extensive set of martial arts moves, singlehandedly taking on numerous opponents. Players perform bone-crunching kicks and combos, vicious counters and a cinematic set of environmental takedowns making use of countless real-world items from circular saws to phone booths, incinerators to refrigerator doors.

Opm gave it 7.5. Said its a solid sandbox game but does nothing special or above and beyond

Those bugs need to get fixed before it's even released!

Sleeping Dogs Getting Six Months of DLC

Quote:
Worried that after you finish driving around Hong Kong and beating up everybody who might possibly be opposed to you that you'll be out of things to do in Sleeping Dogs?
Not if Square Enix can help it.
The publisher has plans to offer six months' worth of DLC, ranging from new outfits to mission packs to new vehicles. According to Square Enix Studios London general manager Lee Singleton:
"Sleeping Dogs is a game we know fans will want to keep on playing, so over the next six months we'll be creating a series of new content packs giving players everything they need to keep enjoying the game. We want to create something to suit everyone's play style from cool cars and high-speed missions to outlandish outfits and game-extending mission packs. The game launch is just the beginning."
Among the packs teased were a SWAT theme, a Racing Pack, and a Retro Triad pack available this week which apparently includes a whole bunch of questionable '80s vehicles and fashion choices that Hong Kong cinema fans know and love.
We'll be able to start slamming heads in car doors and putting table saws to creative use tomorrow.

Sounds great.I was wondering what they were going to do since the game has no multi player.

This game will more than keep me busy while I wait for GTA V to release hopefully by next spring.

If they're releasing that much DLC I think I'll wait for the inevitable GOTY edition and save myself some pennies

From what I've seen it does look pretty good and I've really enjoyed the Saint's Row and GTA (apart from the last one) games.

I'm glad I pre-ordered this and it seems I was right too.

If this sells well then Activision must be regretting their decision.

So who's playing this? I was pumped when they announced True Crime: HK, then it went completely off my radar when they scrapped it. Then when this game started getting advertised on TV, I was like, "WTF is this game that I've never heard of? Why are they pushing it so hard?" I was shocked when I did a little research and discovered the whole situation. Now, needless to say, I can't wait to play this. But unlike when Max Payne came out, I'm going to wait for a price drop. But anyway, I know it's completely unrelated now, but how does this game compare to True Crime: SoLA and True Crime: NYC? I loved those two back in the last gen days, btw.

Played the game for 5 hours last night and it's really a nice game.

No it's not on GTA's level but it sure as HECK is a LOT better than the crappy Saints Row games.

As far as this game hitting the sales price of $29 to $39 I'm not sure it will happen in a month or 2 if the game is selling well and also the fact Square Enix has planned 6 months of DLC content I think it will take awhile for a GOTY version with to come out.

Of course come black Friday this year a major retailer will probably drop the price down.

Bottom line is if your a type of person who like's the open world game genre and are looking for something to hold you over until GTA V comes out than this game is for you.

Am I the only one who always has "continue game" grayed out in the menu? Its not a huge issue since I can load the auto-save and go but it's kinda weird.

I'm terrible at the combat in this game, but enjoy it for the most part. Like the atmosphere too.

I'm really hoping to pick this up soon and the fact that it's a new IP means we've been seeing loads of sale prices pop up for it, so as soon as it gets to my magic mark, i'm gonna bite . Reviews have been stellar. This is certainly the game True Crime should've been

If you wait a little longer, the "continue" option becomes available. I don't know why the delay.

The combat is serviceable. It's not as refined as Batman: Arkham..., but it's also much simpler and more forgiving, and the environmental kills are fun (fans). It has not been difficult, and I don't see a difficulty setting. I'm a little frustrated with the camera. There seems to be some lag or drag or something, and it's also a little glitchy, esp. when driving. Maybe you could fill me in by what camera and aim "pitch" and "yaw" mean and what should change by adjusting them to 1 vs. 10. Driving feels virtually identical to Just Cause 2, but the game itself has more of a GTA feel to it, with police chases, "massages", clothiers and hospital bills, if you die. I never could get into GTA IV, but so far I'm okay with this one. I don't know how long the game is, but it must not be very, since I have hardly done any real missions (mostly looking for health shrines and lockboxes) and I'm already 16% done. It's pretty mediocre, graphically speaking, but voice acting is good (except English is a North American accent, which I did not think fit Hong Kong), and the music and ambient sounds are good.

Oh okay, thanks. That is odd.

I have to disagree - I don't think it's more forgiving, I think it's harder. I played through Arkham City without much problems, as far as pure combat goes (did have a few problems when guns came into play). To me, Arkham City seemed much easier with the freeflow system. Sleeping Dogs seems a bit slower but more meticulous, if that makes sense. It's extremely easy to die in Dogs imo. I've lost about 30,000 in hospital bills, and if I had to pay them from restarting mid-mission I'd probably be 50k in debt.

I either really suck, am forgetting something, or need to upgrade skills or something.

I don't know what my percentage is, probably around 12-15% since I have the 10% trophy. I've done 5 or 6 missions, all favors in north point, and found a couple lockboxes and 5 shrines. Tried to do some drug busts but kept dying
