Lord of the Rings-Blu-ray - Which version? - Blu-ray Forum

I know New Line just announced Lord of the Rings will be coming out on Blu-ray and maybe HD-DVD in the winter, but I was wondering if anyone knew which version? Cause there is the theatrical cut and the extended edition.

First off, where did you here that announcement?

Second, there's a rumor that HD-DVD will be getting the theatrical cut and Blu-ray will get the Extended Edition. The rumors say it's because HD-DVD lacks the storage needed to put the entire EE on one disc, so the theatrical cut is the only one that will fit on one HD-DVD disc.

So hopefully that's true, showing BD's advantage. I think that could be huge in showing why BD is far superior.

As of now, it's really just a rumor, but the rumor is that blu ray will get the extended editions around november.

I can't wait for the LOTR trilogy if they are coming out. Hopefully they will be the extended cut, with a second disc of extras like the Pirates movies.
