I use my ps3 as my blu-ray player and I can only get 720p but does surround sound make a diffrence in blu-ray's where I would notice and this would be the system I use.

it goes without saying that getting surround sound would make a HUGE difference in your blu ray experience. After all, Sound is 50% of the movie watching experience. However i would steer clear of HTIB (home theater In A Box) and would opt for some separates. What kind of budget do you have to play with?

Right now nothing but we already have this system which we got a few years ago and I was wondering if I should buy an optical cable for it since right now I only have the prestige and indy 4 but hopefully on the 25th I add x-files and mummy 3.

![]() Yes, buy an optical cable. You should be able to hook it up to your single optical in on the right hand side. |

Yes, and if your only investment to experience this is an optical cable - do it!!
I got my first surround system about 10 months ago and the difference in the entertainment value of movies, games, and music is incredible. You won't listen to your TV speakers ever again. ![]() |

I think that most people got into HDTV and Blu-ray disc because of the vastly improved and superior VIDEO quality. They soon realized however, that with the available CODECS on Blu-ray disc, that AUDIO was key in enhancing that quality even more. As such, I would say that AUDIO is MORE important than video. Without the proper audio quality you cannot experience your HDTV and Blu-ray discs they way they were intended to shine!

Dude, you will not be disappointed. I waited almost 6 months before adding surround sound. My goodness, what a difference. It is an immersive experience now. Whether blu-rays or PS3 games...awesome. It did take some getting used to. I remember jumping in my seat a few times with gun fire and while watching 1408, lol. The kids love it but the wife couldn't care less.

i understand that the OP is new, but seriously, why do you go to the movies? you go to get the whole picture and sound up in your face, right? why wouldn't you try and replicate that at home?
part of reason i have a blu-ray player, tv and surround sound is so i don't have to go to the theater anymore and deal with annoying people. |
