Default Htib

Now I know there are a few questions out there already about HTIB but none of them really answer my question, they kinda go off onto alternatives.

I am after a HTIB that can do HDMI over AUDIO. Number of HDMI inputs doesn't bother me as I have switch.

I DO NOT want to piece together my own system, I would rather just get it all in one. Size constraints restrict me from something too big. I don't want to spend anything more than $500-$600.

5.1 or 7.1, doesn't bother me.

I have PS3 so HD audio will pass through.

Any alternatives people would be hugely appreciated.

Here. The Onkyo/ Polk system is a good choice. Get your cables at Monoprice!

Alright thanks for that. I like the look of those POLKS, I know they are a good brand. I hear also good things about that ONKYO. But say for location problems I can't get hold of either of those two.
How would the Samsung HT-AS720 stack up? Or the Sony 7200DH?

Can you get ahold of any Onkyo HTIB? Could you send me the models that cost the most and I'll tell you which is best?

From the looks of it, I can get hold of the Onkyo HT-S5100 and that's bloody it.

That really sucks. Looking to upgrade to a standalone player with multichannel outs?

No, it doesn't if you're trying to use the PS3 with it.

Ok, I have done some extremely detailed searching of NZ and Aussie and it appears I can get the RM6750 Speakers for a decent enough price.

The receiver is the killer at the moment. Anything else you can suggest, bit cheaper? Has HDMI audio passthrough?

Do you have any Yamaha, Pioneer, Marantz, or Denon receivers over there?

Look into the Yamaha 663, the Marantz 4001, the Pioneer 1018, and the Denon 3808CI then. I believe those models should be relatively bearable price wise and SQ wise definitely. If all of them are out of reach, you probably have Sony there so the DG720, 820, or 920 would all be good choices as well.

Yamaha I can get for around the $700. Can't get that Pioneer here and the Denon is over $2k. Marantz SR 4001 is no longer in production here, has been replaced with the 4002 and is at $1000 with the price going up to $1500 tomorrow.

The Sony STR-DG720 will probably be your cheapest option for lossless audio...

I have the Sony ht-ss2000 hooked up to my PS3 via HDMI and it rocks the house big time. You can send Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, and uncompressed PCM through it with the Linear PCM set-up on the PS3. At SonyStyle you can get the ht-ss2300 for $400. It just has a different center speaker than mine. I think Best Buy has it right now also. I use it in a 10'x12' room and it's fine.
