Default backlight setting?

Can having the backlight setting high (8) on my lcd, ruin the tv or deteriate the life of the tv?

It won't ruin your TV but it will cut down on the life.

you can have it set how you want. 8 sure is bright though

it can shorten the life of the set but not by much! most lcd's are rated for 60,000 hours before they reach half brightness

I appreciate the info. Your right it is bright. I had it set to 8 and it started hurting my eyes. I bought it down to 6. Looks alot better and doesn't hurt my eyes.
