Hi guys,
Just got my P1000 from the US, hoping that i might be able to use the hack & play dvd 2 disks, however it has the lastest version of the firmware & nothing will work. I dont mind too much just getting region A blu-rays, however it would be more useful if i could upgrade the US firmware with the EU firmware and play region B ones. However, i dont know if this is possible? Also, I was wondering if mamny people had, had problems with faulty blu-ray discs? My first one came yesterday "fifth element" & it wouldnt play properly - not jerky exactly, but almost seem to keep playing a microsecond of the picture twice - bit like a dj scratching a disc. When i looked at the disc i noticed that it had been printed slighly off centre. I also noticed that the cover was poorly printed (should blu-ray jackets have a holographic logo on? Mine doesnt & i have to wonder if it is legal) Thanks for all you assistance, Species |

I guess you live & learn.
Another site said it was possible so i tried it - BIG mistake. It loaded the firmware ok, but after re-starting it failed to output any video feed. The worse part is that it also now fails to recognise a firmware disc - says "no disc". Tried a dvd movie, & that actually played - could hear sound, but it's obviously screwed it, becuase the whole front panel locks out after a few minutes. So i am in fact left with a heap of rubbish. It's my own fault, but i wish people didnt post stuff that clearly isnt true. I am also supprised that it has screwed the player up so badly that it cant even recognise a firmware disc - you would have kind of thought that there would have been some sort of built in fail-safe to stop people from loading a firmware that would cause the unit to fail. I would add that both the three Samsung US & UK firmware files are named exactly the same - there isnt anything to say US or UK, so i am wondering how many people will do this accidentally anyway. Probably not many, but to be honest, one is enough. So i'm going to go away now and cry for a bit..... |
